Lance Taylor has been named General Manager at Courtyard Austin North

Previously, Lance was the general manager at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Lakeway, Texas. Lance brings over 17 years of hospitality experience to his new position including experience with hotels such as the Dallas Marriott Las Colinas, Radisson Hotel and Suites in Austin, Hilton Austin Hotel, Stephen F. Austin Inter-Continental Hotel and the Sheraton Hotel in Austin. During his time a contract manager for Towne Park, Lance hired, trained, supervised and established hotel practices for hotels in New Orleans, Houston, Nashville, St. Louis, Baltimore, Annapolis and Philadelphia.

Marco Gonzalez has been promoted to General Manager at Residence Inn Houston Galleria

Previously, Gonzalez was the general manager at the Residence Inn Sugar Land. In the past, Gonzalez has served as the general manager of the Residence Inn Market Square in San Antonio, the assistant general manager at the Residence Inn by the Galleria in Houston and executive housekeeping manager/operations manager for the Residence Inn Market Square as well. Gonzalez was also once a building manager for LBJ Student Center in San Marcos, Texas.

Roxanna Castillo has been promoted to General Manager at Hyatt House Houston Galleria

Previously, Castillo was the general manager at the Residence Inn Houston Galleria. She has held multiple other positions with White Lodging including experience at the Courtyard Sugarland and the Residence Inn Sugarland. At these properties Castillo has held positions such as operations manager, acting general manager, assistant general manager and cluster sales manager. Castillo spent nine years working with the Marriott brand hotels and is excited about learning the Hyatt brand now.

Stefan Huber has been appointed as General Manager at InterContinental Dallas

Huber comes to the InterContinental Dallas with extensive industry knowledge ranging from intimate boutique to full service hotel, resort and convention settings. For the past five years, Huber worked for Destination Hotels and Resorts and served as the General Manager at various locations throughout the US. During his tenure at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, the property achieved a AAA Four Diamond rating and was named a Conde Nast Readers Choice Award winner for three consecutive years. Before that, Huber was at the Fairmont Dallas for a period of ten years. There he oversaw several renovations and converted the hotel to a AAA Four Diamond property. Other experience includes nine years with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts at a variety of destinations in the US and Caribbean as well as several Hilton Resorts in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Tom Klein has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Sabre Holdings

Sabre Holdings announced today that company President Tom Klein is succeeding Sam Gilliland as the company’s CEO. Klein will serve as CEO and President, while Gilliland will continue to serve on the board of directors. Klein has been with Sabre for more than two decades serving in a broad variety of leadership roles in Latin America, North America, and globally. He assumed the role of president of the company in 2010.

Scott Blalock has been appointed as General Manager at JW Marriott Austin

JW Marriott Austin is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Blalock as general manager of the new hotel slated to open in March 2015. A 25-year hospitality industry veteran, Blalock brings extensive operational, sales and administrative experience to the JW Marriott Austin. He has worked for the hotel's developer, White Lodging, since 2006 after more than 18 years of service with Marriott International.

Joe Garcia has been promoted to general manager at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Antonio Downtown/Market Square. Previously, Garcia was the operations manager and assistant general manager at the Residence Inn Houston/Sugarland. As operations manager and assistant general manager at Residence Inn Houston/Sugarland, Garcia operated the hotel during a full renovation and provided leadership for sixteen associates. Prior to joining White Lodging, Garcia managed front desk services as a guest service representative for the London West Hollywood in Hollywood, Calif.

Ryan Frederick has been promoted to General Manager at Courtyard and Residence Inn Houston Downtown/Convention Center

Ryan Frederick has been promoted to dual general manager of the Courtyard and Residence Inn Houston Downtown/Convention Center. Previously, he was the general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco Airport. Frederick began his career with White Lodging in 2006 as a Marriott restaurant manager in Michigan and has held multiple positions across the country during his time with White lodging. Prior to serving as general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco, Frederick served as general manager in several locations, including Tampa, Fla. and Saratoga Springs, N. Y.

David Malmberg has been promoted to General Manager at Courtyard and Residence Inn Austin Downtown Convention Center

David Malmberg has been promoted to general manager of the Courtyard and Residence Inn Austin Downtown Convention Center properties. Prior to joining White Lodging in 2011, Malmberg spent nine years in St. Kitts, West Indies. During that time he was the director of restaurant and bar operations, director of catering operations and a sales executive with Marriott. Additionally, Malmberg had success with his own beach bar while on the island. Other Marriott experience includes being the restaurant general manager for the Mansion Restaurant in Lexington, Ky. and assistant restaurant manager for the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Mo.

Jordan Mackey has been named Executive Chef at Hotel Contessa

Benchmark Hospitality International®, a leading US-based hospitality management company, has named Jordan Mackey executive chef of Hotel Contessa. Les Utley, general manager for the property, a Benchmark Hotel® located in the heart of downtown San Antonio on the Riverwalk, made the announcement. Chef Mackey was previously the executive chef and food and beverage director for the River Terrace Inn and Restaurant Cuvee in Napa, California. He has held similar positions at resorts in Florida and Washington. Jordan Mackey is a graduate of the New England Culinary Institute in Essex, Vermont, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management and his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. He resides in San Antonio.

Terry Sanders has joined Latin Hotel & Restaurant Association (LHRA) as member of the board of directors

Terry Sanders, senior vice president of development for Wyndham Hotel Group, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Latin Hotel & Restaurant Association (LHRA), an organization that supports the business interests of Latino owners, operators and developers in the hospitality industry. Sanders, a 16-year veteran of the development and franchise sales industry, plays a key role in the growth of Wyndham Hotel Group’s U.S. portfolio of hotels with a primary focus on enhancing the company’s midscale and upper-midscale presence. He joined Wyndham Hotel Group in 2002 and has since served in a variety of sales and development roles, including director of development, regional vice president and vice president of new construction.

Chia-Hui Lin has been appointed as Controller at Hotel Granduca

Benchmark Hospitality International®, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has named Chia-Hui Lin controller for Hotel Granduca. Mary Grace Gray, general manager for the property, Benchmark’s Personal Luxury Hotel® located in Houston’s chic Uptown Park and Galleria district, made the announcement. Chia-Hui Lin was previously general manager for the Hilton Garden Inn Houston Westbelt. Under her leadership, the property experienced tremendous financial success and achieved a Top Two market positioning. Ms. Lin served as corporate controller for Allied Hospitality, Inc., prior to this. Earlier in her career, Lin held positions of increasing responsibility within financial accounting.

Tom Stoffo has been named 2013 Certified Hospitality Technology Professional (CHTP) of the Year at Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®)

Michelle Strong has been named Dual General Manager at Marriott Courtyard and TownePlace Suites

Gary Nicholson has been appointed as Sales Manager at The Westin Galleria Dallas

Gary has been a Westin Galleria Dallas staff member since 2010, where he started as a loss prevention officer and worked his way up to catering assistant and most recently, executive meeting specialist. Gary has gained a wealth of information and knowledge at the Westin Galleria Dallas and he also has years of sales experience in the banking industry. Nicholson obtained his MBA from Florida State University College of Business.

John Herdman has been appointed as Executive Chef at Hotel Contessa

Benchmark Hospitality International, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has appointed John Herdman executive chef for Hotel Contessa. Les Utley, general manager for the hotel, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located on the famed Riverwalk in San Antonio, made the announcement. John Herdman was previously fine dining sous chef for the highly-acclaimed Inn at Palmetto Bluff, located in Bluffton, South Carolina. Mr. Herdman has also served as sous chef for the Westin La Cantera in San Antonio, where he participated on company task forces for resorts that later were awarded Five Stars and Five Diamonds. Chef Herdman has been honored with the opportunity to cook at the James Beard House in New York City as part of a culinary team of professionals. He is a graduate of Johnson and Wales’ inaugural class in Charlotte, North Carolina. Herdman earned his Bachelor’s degree in Art from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He has relocated to San Antonio.

Teresa Sims has been promoted to Resident Manager at Hyatt North Houston

The Dow Hotel Company, LLC (DHC), a hotel ownership, investment and management company, today announced the promotion of Teresa Sims to resident manager for the Hyatt North Houston in Greenspoint, Texas. A veteran of the Houston market, Sims most recently was the hotel manager for the Sheraton North Houston where she was responsible for substantial increases in guest satisfaction, profitability and employee retention and managed a $6 million post-hurricane renovation. Prior to joining Dow in 2008, she held numerous positions, at other full-service, Houston-area hotels.

Darren Nicholas has been appointed as Director of Food & Beverage at Hotel Contessa

Benchmark Hospitality International, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has appointed Darren Nicholas director of food and beverage for Hotel Contessa. Les Utley, general manager for the hotel, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, made the announcement. Darren Nicholas was most recently the director of food and beverage for the Heathman Hotel in Kirkland, Washington, including its critically acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant, Trellis. Previous to this, Mr. Nicholas served as general manager for the fine dining restaurant at the Woodmark Hotel, also located in Kirkland, which was operated by MTM Luxury Lodging at the time, a company Benchmark Hospitality International purchased in 2011.
