Barry Bloom has been appointed as Executive Vice President of Asset Management and Chief Operating Officer at Inland American Lodging Advisor, Inc.

Mr. Bloom will assume his new position on July 1 and in the interim will provide consulting services to the company while he concludes his work in his current position as an Associate Professor of the Practice at Boston University. Mr. Bloom previously was a senior executive with CNL Hotels & Resorts from 2003 until the sale of the company in 2007, and was instrumental in the growth and ultimate liquidity event of the company as its Executive Vice President of Portfolio Management and Administration. Since then, he successfully led his own hotel investment firm, Abacus Lodging Investors LLC, in addition to completing his Ph.D. in Hospitality Management and teaching at the University of Central Florida, DePaul University and Boston University. His prior experience includes work for Hyatt Development Corporation, Tishman Hotel & Realty, VMS Realty Partners and PKF. Mr. Bloom will be based in IALA’s corporate headquarters in Orlando, Fla., and assume responsibility for all of the company’s asset management and project management activities.

Jackson Cherry has been appointed as Director of Hotel Operations at Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa

native of Watkinsville, Ga., Cherry has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 10 years. Most recently he was general manager of Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga., where he is credited with increasing the property’s guest service scores by five percent and helping achieve the resort’s most financially successful quarter in 2012. Cherry’s hospitality career includes various positions at properties throughout the South, including WaterColor Inn and Resort in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. and King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort in St. Simons Island, Ga. He also became a certified trainer in 2011 through the renowned BHR Training program, where he learned effective staff management and leadership skills. Prior to his hospitality career, Cherry was an information systems technician for the United States Navy for two years.

Westgate Resorts Founder David Siegel has been named Central Florida Hospitality Hall of Fame Member at Central Florida's Rosen College of Hospitality Management

Siegel also holds an honorary doctorate from Florida A&M University for his work in community service, as well as the National Community Service Award from the American Resort Development Association (ARDA).

Jason Crumpacker has been appointed as General Manager at Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Miramar SW

Previously, Crumpacker was the general manager at the Residence Inn Merrillville where he has been since 2011. He started with White Lodging in 2007 as the event operations manager at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. Crumpacker was also the operations manager at the Courtyard Indianapolis at the Capitol where he oversaw the front desk, Courtyard Cafe, meeting space and many of the housekeeping department duties. He even served as an assistant pastor of Crossroads International Church in Athens, Greece for a year where he initiated and organized outreach campaigns, building renovations, taught classes and coordinated groups of members consisting of fifteen different nationalities.

Amy Hyde has been appointed as small markets sales manager at Bonaventure Resort & Spa

With more than 10 years of sales, service and administrative experience in the industry, Amy Hyde, small markets sales manager will be responsible for selling and marketing small group room blocks and event space within the Association, Corporate and SMERF markets. Prior to her new role, Hyde enjoyed successful tenures as the group sales manager for the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Ramada on the Beach in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Jose L Castro has been appointed as Director of Revenue Management at Bonaventure Resort & Spa

Jose Castro comes to Bonaventure Resort & Spa as the new director of revenue, responsible for maximizing transient revenue in leisure and business markets. Castro joins the team following previous roles as director of revenue management at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa and previously at the Wyndham Airport & Executive Meeting Center.

Mary Jobb has been appointed as Director of Sales at Waldorf Astoria Orlando and Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek

Peter Kacheris, managing director for Waldorf Astoria Orlando and Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek has announced the appointment of Mary Jobb as director of sales of the nearly 1500-room complex located in Orlando, Florida. Jobb, a 20-year veteran of hospitality sales will oversee the sales team and business development for the two resorts nestled in a nature preserve and conveniently located inside the gates of Walt Disney World. Jobb most recently held the position of vice president of sales with LXR, Luxury Resorts & Hotels. She joined LXR in 2005 as part of the sales leadership team that focused on building the national sales organization. In late 2008, she was promoted to vice president of field sales & executive meetings center, and lead the sales efforts for LXR properties in Boston; Washington, D.C.; Florida; and Jamaica; as well as the small meetings team centrally located in South Florida.

Deborah Berlingeri has been appointed as Spa Director at Bonaventure Resort & Spa

Benchmark Hospitality International®, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has appointed Deborah Berlingeri spa director for Bonaventure Resort & Spa. Jim Mauer, general manager for the property, a Benchmark Resort® located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, made the announcement. Deborah Berlingeri was previously senior account executive for Harbor Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, located in Fort Lauderdale. During her tenure there, Ms. Berlingeri held several positions of increasing responsibility in the spa, events, and sales departments. She began her career in hospitality as front office manager for the Raleigh Crabtree Marriott Hotel in Raleigh, North Carolina. Ms. Berlingeri is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, where she earned her Business Administration Degree. She resides in Weston, Florida.

Ron Warner has been appointed as Regional Director of Group Sales at Melia Hotels International

Most recently, he held the position of Director of Operations for Maxvantage where he was responsible for leading a team of meeting managers and sourcing managers in the US and Canada. Prior to that, he was National Manager for the Canadian American Express Platinum card travel service leading a team of travel agents specializing in the luxury sector. Mr. Warner also held the position of National Manager of supplier relations with American Express in the Leisure sector.

Caroline Ball has been appointed as Regional Director of Group Sales at Melia Hotels International

Ms. Ball will be responsible for groups, meetings, incentive sales, and conventions as well as maintaining client relationships for Melia's national accounts. Ms. Ball will be responsible for the regions of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Ms. Ball has been in the industry since 1993 and spent the last 12 years with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. Since 2003, she served as Director of Worldwide Sales for Hyatt Hotels in the Washington, DC area markets and the Southeast US markets. Working from her home office in Annapolis, MD, she is involved with the sailing community in Annapolis and enjoys boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Richard Byrd has been appointed as General Manager at Marriott Pompano Beach Oceanfront

Byrd, a seasoned Marriott International professional, is at the helm of the resort, bringing more than 28 years’ experience to his new position. Kenny Hunsberger has been appointed as Executive Chef at Loews Don CeSar

Restaurant industry veteran Kenny Hunsberger has been appointed Executive Chef of the newly renovated Loews Don CeSar Hotel. With more than 25 years of hotel food and beverage experience, Chef Hunsberger will oversee all culinary aspects at Florida’s legendary “Pink Palace.” Hunsberger joined Loews Hotels & Resorts in late 2010 as Executive Sous Chef. Under his leadership, he supervised renovations of both the Sea Porch and the Four-Diamond Maritana Grille. Jamey Dempsey has been appointed as Senior Sales Manager at Hilton Orlando

Jamey Dempsey has been named Hilton Orlando’s new senior sales manager according to Gino Marasco, the hotel’s director of sales. Dempsey will lead the citywide, association and Midwest corporate sales efforts for the 1,417-room Hilton Orlando which has twice been the winner of Hilton Worldwide’s corporate “Connie Award”, Hilton’s highest award. Dempsey’s Central Florida hotel experience includes the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels, 10 years with Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress and he served as a senior sales manager at Walt Disney World Park and Resorts sales. Dempsey was also part of the opening team at Omni Champions Gate.

Nabil Salloum has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton Tampa Downtown

Nabil Salloum, a trilingual operations executive with expertise in turning around underperforming properties and opening new hotels in metropolitan markets joins Driftwood at their most recently acquired hotel, the 521-room Hilton Tampa Downtown. With over 28 years in the hospitality industry Salloum has proven his ability to develop teams to outperform previous highs in service and guest satisfaction while streamlining operations to increase profit margins. Salloum previously was general manager of the Renaissance Plantation Hotel in Plantation, Fla. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Louisville and University of Phoenix.

Becky Darnell has been appointed as General Manager at Hampton Inn Daytona Beach Speedway Airport

Driftwood Hospitality Management today announced the appointments of new general managers at three of the company’s Hilton Worldwide properties. Becky Darnell joins the 122-room Hampton Inn Daytona Beach Speedway – Airport team from the same position at the Clarion Inn Airport in Fletcher, N.C. She began her career in the airline industry before coming onboard with Driftwood in 2005. Since that time, Darnell has risen through the ranks at Driftwood, serving in a variety of roles, including assistant general manager, general manager, controller and human resources director. Darnell graduated with a B.S. in Business and a minor in English from Texas A&M University.

Bradley A. Weiser has joined Hostmark Development, LLC as Principal

Mr. Weiser currently serves as President and CEO of The Continental Companies, the hospitality management company founded in 1970 that has developed and/or owned over 85 hotels and casinos. Joel Bunde has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa

As general manager, Joel Bunde will further extend his 19 years of hospitality management experience at Hyatt Key West. Prior to his appointment, Bunde spent more than 16 years as executive assistant manager at Hyatt Regency Curacao, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis and Park Hyatt Carmel. As general manager, he will oversee all operations at the 118-room luxury waterfront resort as it approaches its 25th year. A graduate of Iowa State University, Bunde holds a Bachelor of Science in hotel and restaurant management.

Braedan Quigley has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa

As director of sales and marketing, Braedan Quigley will use his 11 years of industry experience to manage, train and supervise the sales and marketing departments, develop and execute creative new strategies and manage the annual sales and marketing budgets for Hyatt Key West as well as Hyatt Regency Aruba. His new role also includes overseeing all sales and marketing strategies for Hyatt’s latest project in The Bahamas: Grand Hyatt at Baha Mar, expected to open in 2014.
