Mark Juliano has been appointed as President at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem

Juliano comes to Bethlehem from Marina Bay Sands, the company's resort in Singapore, where he served as senior vice president and chief casino officer.Juliano has served in senior roles in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas. His previous positions include president and chief operations officer of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, chief executive officer of Trump Entertainment Resorts, president of Caesars Atlantic City and chairman of the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority.

Paul Sherlock has been appointed as Director of Operations at Omni Bedford Springs

A hospitality veteran with more than 20 years of industry experience and a proven track record of success in providing superior guest services while exceeding business objectives, Paul Sherlock oversees all operations at the historic luxury hideaway, including food and beverage operations at all on-site dining outlets and in-room dining. Sherlock joined Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa following turns as director of food and beverage at L'Auberge Casino Resort at Lake Charles in Louisiana and Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. Previously, he held management positions including vice president of food and beverage for Noble House Hotels & Resorts, as well as director of food and beverage and director of operations for the company's La Playa Beach & Golf Resort outpost in Naples, Fla. He was also director of food and beverage at the Lodge at Pebble Beach, which hosted the 2000 U.S. Open. There he gained experience with large-scale catering and player services for PGA Tour Tournaments and elite private club operations.

Nancy Johnson has been named Conti Professor at Penn State’s School of Hospitality Management

The Penn State School of Hospitality Management named Nancy Johnson, executive vice president, industry relations, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, as the Spring 2014 Walter J. Conti Visiting Professor. Conti Professors visit the School of Hospitality Management to interact with students and faculty members, to present guest lectures in hospitality management and to speak at graduate and undergraduate colloquia.Johnson will be on campus in April to interact with students and faculty members. She will discuss topics, including hotel development, asset management, operations, strategy, political advocacy, and women's leadership. She also serves on the School of Hospitality Management Industry Advisory Board.

Shand Luce has been named Director of Sales and Marketing at The Depot Renaissance Minneapolis & Residence Inn at The Depot

CSM Lodging, a division of CSM Corporation, has promoted Shand Luce to director of sales and marketing for both The Depot Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel and The Residence Inn at The Depot Hotel. Both properties are situated within an historic 19th Century train depot complex. Kate Burda, vice president sales & marketing, made the announcement.Shand Luce was previously director of operations for The Depot Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, a position to which he was appointed in 2013 and in which he experienced significant success. Mr. Luce came to CSM Lodging following service as general manager for the Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort in Sunny Isles, Florida. He has previously successfully served as director of operations for both The Ritz Carlton of Coconut Grove, Florida, and the Westin Fort Lauderdale. Mr. Luce resides in the Minneapolis area with his family.

Chuck Moran has been appointed as General Manager at Gettysburg Hotel

Waterford Hotel Group recently announced the appointment of Chuck Moran as General Manager of the historic 119-room Gettysburg Hotel, located on Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg. Moran most recently served as a Regional Hotel Director for Waterford in its corporate office, overseeing the operations of several properties in the company's portfolio.

Nassy Saidian has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt at The Bellevue

Most recently, Nassy was General Manager of Hyatt Regency Rochester, a position he held since 2007. Prior to the Rochester post, Saidian was Executive Assistant Manager at Hyatt Regency Dallas, Hyatt Regency Crown Center Kansas City, Hyatt Regency Cambridge Massachusetts and Hyatt Regency Coral Cables Florida. Nassy's long history at Hyatt includes earlier roles at Hyatt Regency Chicago, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Park Hyatt Chicago, Hyatt Regency Aruba, Hyatt Boston Harbor and Hyatt Grand Champions Resort and Spa at Indian Wells California.

Starwood's President and Chief Executive Officer Frits van Paasschen has been named Conti Professor at Penn State’s School of Hospitality Management

The Penn State School of Hospitality Management named Frits van Paasschen, president and chief executive officer of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. as the Spring 2013 Walter J. Conti Visiting Professor. Conti Professors visit the School of Hospitality Management to interact with students and faculty members, to present guest lectures in hospitality management, and to speak at graduate and undergraduate colloquia. Van Paasschen visited the School of Hospitality Management during the Spring 2013 semester for a presentation to over 200 hospitality students about what van Paasschen calls ‘The Age of Great Change‘ and Starwood’s global perspective on the hospitality industry. His visit also included a roundtable with student leaders and faculty, which allowed for vibrant discussions about leadership and the organization.

David Arena has been appointed as General Manager at Courtyard Philadelphia Valley Forge/Collegeville

Previously, Arena was the general manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in Malvern, Pa. where he helped propel the guest service scores into the top 10% of the Courtyard brand. Arena has held a variety of positions with other companies including Penn Oaks Golf Club, Residence Inn by Marriott, Wyndham Hotels, Crescent Hotels, Parcels Incorporated and The Shipley Grill/Arena's Famous Delicatessen, a 4-star upscale American-Bistro style restaurant and catering facility that he personally owned and operated until 2002.

HVS’s Steve Rushmore has been named 2012 Hospitality Executive of the Year at Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society

Steve Rushmore, chairman and founder of the global hospitality consulting organization HVS, has been named 2012 Hospitality Executive of the Year by the Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society (PSHRS). Rushmore will receive the award during the fifty-first Hospitality Executive of the Year Award Reception, which will take place November 11, 2012 in conjunction with the annual International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show in New York. As part of the honor, Rushmore also will be inducted into the Penn State Hospitality Hall of Fame, located at The Nittany Lion Inn on Penn State’s University Park campus.

Susan Perrothers has been appointed as General Manager at Gettysburg Hotel

Susan Perrothers has been appointed as General Manager of the Gettysburg Hotel. Established in 1797 and a subsidiary of Gettysburg College, the 119-room hotel is located on Lincoln Square in Gettysburg, Pa., and is managed by Waterford Hotel Group, Inc. She first joined Waterford Hotel Group in 2005 as part of the pre-opening team at the Hilton Hartford in Connecticut, serving as Banquet Manager. Perrothers' previous appointments include Assistant General Manager at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Hartford, CT as well as several task force assignments at various properties in the Waterford portfolio, including the Courtyard by Marriott in Norwich, CT, Courtyard by Marriott in Warwick, RI and the Trenton Marriott Downtown in Trenton, NJ. Most recently, she served as General Manager for the Residence Inn by Marriott Danbury, CT, a position she has held since 2008.

Ellen McGinnis has been appointed as Spa Director of Springs Eternal Spa at Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa

McGinnis has enjoyed an extensive career in spa and wellness. She arrived at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa from InSPAration Management, a Florida-based firm specializing in spa and salon business development, advanced education and management. At InSPAration she specialized in delivering a full spectrum of solutions to ensure business success for owners and operators of luxury resort and day spas as well as medical spas. Previously, McGinnis also served as Executive Vice President of Operations at Innovative Spa Management, a North Carolina based company, developing turn-key solutions to meet the needs of hospitality, spa and fitness clients. At Innovative Spa Management, she oversaw daily operations of more than 10 resort spa locations. McGinnis got her start in the spa industry, working over a decade with Arnold Palmer and IMG, specializing in high end locations and later opened one of the first themed spas on the East Coast, the legendary Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, NC.

Susan Corrigan has been named Director of Sales at The Inn at Pocono Manor

The Inn at Pocono Manor has named Susan Corrigan director of sales for the historic resort. The Inn, which opened in 1902, is the longest continuously operating resort in the Pocono Mountains and one of the oldest in North America. The announcement was made by Lisa Green, acting general manager for The Inn at Pocono Manor. Previously Susan Corrigan served at sales manager for The Inn at Pocono Manor. Prior to this, Ms. Corrigan held the position of sales manager for Stoweflake Resort and Conference Center of Stowe, Vermont. She began her career in hospitality at The Adams Mark Hotel in Philadelphia. Mr. Corrigan is attended Bucks County Community College. She resides in Blakeslee, Pennsylvania.

Sharlene Lloyd has been appointed as Director of Sales at Courtyard Philadelphia Coatesville

Lloyd comes to Coatesville with extensive experience in both operations and sales management. As Director of Sales, she will be responsible for the total sales effort of the hotel. Her experience includes Director of Sales positions at several Pennsylvania hotels, including the Radisson Valley Forge and the Holiday Inn Morgantown, as well as a Director of Sales and Marketing role at the Hampton Inn in Wyomissing. Most recently, Lloyd served as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Residence Inn by Marriott in Exton.

Paul Jensen has been appointed as General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Courtyard Philadelphia Coatesville

As General Manager, Jensen will be responsible for all of the hotel’s operations, sales and administration. With more than 10 years hospitality management experience, his previous positions include General Manager for the Summerfield Suites by Wyndham and the Staybridge Suites, both in Malvern, PA. Jensen also served as Regional Director of Operations for five Staybridge Suites and four Candlewood Suites hotels in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He joins the Coatesville team from his most recent position as Regional Vice President for Joshi Hotels Group, based in Allentown, PA.

S. Lee Bowden has been appointed as General Manager at Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa

Bowden began his career in the sales department at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, where he was first a Convention Services Manager, then a Sales Manager. He moved on to the Woodstock Inn and Resort in Woodstock, Vermont, where he jumped from Director of Sales & Marketing to Resident Manager in just two years. His knowledge and passion led him to the positions of Vice President and General Manager at the Carambola Beach Resort in St. Croix and The Equinox in Manchester, VT; Managing Director at The Sagamore in Bolton Landing, NY; and President and Managing Director of the Gateway Canyons Resort in Gateway, CO.

Plato Ghinos has been named 75th Conti Professor at The Penn State School of Hospitality Management

Conti Professors visit the School of Hospitality Management to interact with students and faculty members, to present guest lectures in hospitality and foodservice management, and to speak at graduate and undergraduate colloquia.

Bill Fortier has been named 74th Conti Professor at The Penn State School of Hospitality Management

The Penn State School of Hospitality Management named Bill Fortier, senior vice president of development at Hilton Worldwide, and Plato Ghinos, president at Shaner Hotel Group, as the 74th and 75th Conti Professors. Conti Professors visit the School of Hospitality Management to interact with students and faculty members, to present guest lectures in hospitality and foodservice management, and to speak at graduate and undergraduate colloquia. Fortier and Ghinos both visited the School of Hospitality Management during the fall 2011 to lead a program and classroom discussion with over 200 students about hospitality real estate and development from both the franchisor and franchisee perspectives. Fortier later hosted 40 students for a day at the Hilton Worldwide headquarters in McLean, Virginia. There, Hilton executives joined Fortier in presenting real estate case studies, giving tours of their concept rooms and reviewing sustainability practices at the nearby Hilton McLean. Ghinos and executives from Shaner Hotel Group are working with the School of Hospitality Management to create an international internship for their new property, Renaissance Il Ciocco Tuscany Resort and Spa in the Tuscany region of Italy. This will be the first international addition to internships already offered to many students at Shaner properties in the local region.
