MIAMI and SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has surpassed 100 open and planned hotels across the Caribbean, marking a significant milestone in its expansion throughout the region. Contributing to the momentum is this week’s opening of the first Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton dual-brand property in Puerto Rico, reflecting the company’s multi-brand strategy focused on high-demand destinations including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos, as well as emerging markets such as Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago. With this approach, Hilton offers a wider range of brands tailored to distinct stay occasions, travel segments and owner needs across the region.

The Caribbean is a strategic priority for Hilton, with a longstanding history dating back to the opening of Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico, our first hotel outside of the Continental U.S. Today, our established portfolio of nearly 60 hotels provides a foundation for accelerated growth, as we continue delivering memorable stays, made possible by our team members who bring the warmth of Hilton’s hospitality to life every day.

Kolin Pound, area president, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton

Our growth across the Caribbean is driven by strong relationships with owners who share Hilton’s long-term vision for the region. Together, we are bringing the right brands to high-demand and emerging destinations, creating more choice for travelers and long-term value. Surpassing 100 open hotels and projects under design and construction reflects the strength of our momentum across the Caribbean as we expand into new destinations, introduce more of Hilton’s brands and create new opportunities for travelers and owners throughout the region.

Pablo Maturana, vice president, development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton

Caribbean Growth Across Stay Occasions

The accelerated momentum in the Caribbean is translating into more destinations and more ways to stay. Notable 2026 openings include The Westerly at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino and Ports of Call Resort Turks & Caicos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Through Hilton’s partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), Hilton also welcomed West Bay Club in Turks and Caicos, ONE GT Grand Cayman, and Paradise Beach Nevis in Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The breadth of Hilton’s pipeline demonstrates the strength of its multi-brand strategy, pairing distinct brands with traveler segments, market opportunities and owner needs across the Caribbean. Upcoming brand debuts will bring more options for guests and new development opportunities for local owners. Planned openings will mark brand firsts in key markets, including:

  • Dominican Republic: DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown, expected by year-end 2026, followed by Tru by Hilton Punta Cana planned for 2027

  • Curaçao: DoubleTree by Hilton Curaçao slated for 2027

  • Dominica: Tranquility Beach Resort Dominica, Curio Collection by Hilton expected in 2028, also marking Hilton’s first hotel in the country

  • The Bahamas: Paradise Breeze Nassau, Curio Collection by Hilton slated for 2028 also representing Hilton’s return to the island

  • Barbados: Hilton Garden Inn Barbados Rockley Beach planned for 2028

  • Puerto Rico: Motto by Hilton San Juan Santurce expected in 2028

  • Trinidad and Tobago: Hampton by Hilton Trinidad Airport, slated for 2028, Elephant Tree Resort and Villas Tobago, Tapestry Collection by Hilton planned for 2030

  • Turks and Caicos: Waldorf Astoria Turks and Caicos Dellis Cay and AMARIS Grace Bay Turks and Caicos, LXR Hotels & Resorts expected in 2030

A Milestone for Hilton in Puerto Rico

As part of Hilton’s growth across the Caribbean, the company celebrated the opening of Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton San Juan, bringing 257 rooms and two distinct stay options to the heart of San Juan, near the Puerto Rico Convention Center and DISTRITO T-Mobile. The opening marks Homewood Suites by Hilton’s debut in Puerto Rico and expands Hampton by Hilton’s presence beyond Isla Verde, with Hampton by Hilton Ponce also in the pipeline. Hilton’s first dual-brand development in the Caribbean, the project introduces a model well established in mature hotel markets and marks San Juan’s first new-build hotel development in more than five years.

The development pairs complementary extended-stay and midscale brands within a single project, illustrating how owners can serve distinct demand segments while sharing amenities and operating efficiencies. Its location in the San Juan Convention District, near the Puerto Rico Convention Center and DISTRITO T-Mobile, positions the hotels to serve business, convention and leisure travelers, as well as guests seeking longer stays.

The openings are also part of Hilton’s broader expansion in Puerto Rico, where the company plans to double its existing portfolio to nearly 25 hotels, with projects advancing in San Juan, Ponce, Fajardo, Dorado and Arecibo. Hilton’s pipeline on the island spans focused-service, extended-stay, lifestyle and resort offerings, including Hampton by Hilton Ponce, Motto by Hilton San Juan Santurce, Tru by Hilton San Juan Condado, and more.
