Disney officials have submitted plans to the city of Anaheim, Calif. to begin construction on a new luxury hotel at Disneyland.
The proposal, the first for a West Coast Disney hotel property in 20 years, would be the fourth hotel located at the resort, reports the OC Register.

Guests will also be able to dine al fresco on the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, overlooking the park to catch Disneyland’s nightly firework display over Sleeping Beauty Castle. The average nightly rate is rumored to be $450.

FelCor Lodging Trust Incorporated (NYSE: FCH) today announced that it has sold the 222-room Embassy Suites – Anaheim-North for $25.5 million to Urban Commons, LLC. FelCor will use the net proceeds to repay a portion of the $88 million balance on the CMBS loan that matures in 2013. As part of its long-term portfolio repositioning strategy, which includes the sale of 39 non-strategic hotels, FelCor is currently marketing nine hotels. FelCor has sold 16 of the 25 hotels that it has brought to market since December 2010.

The Dow Hotel Company, LLC (DHC), a hotel owner/investor and management company, today announced that it has signed a long-term management agreement to operate the 375-suite Embassy Suites Anaheim South. Located just minutes from Disneyland and The Anaheim Convention Center at 11767 Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, Calif., the hotel is owned by Landmark Companies, LLC. The property currently is undergoing a $5 million renovation which Dow will oversee.
George Kalogridis, a 38-year Disney veteran and former Disneyland executive, has been named president of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Kalogridis most recently served as chief operating officer for Disneyland Resort Paris, where he was responsible for leading the operations team and overseeing the highly successful 15th anniversary celebration of the resort. Kalogridis, 55, will report to Al Weiss, president of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. He replaces Ed Grier, who is retiring from the company. From 2000 to 2002, Kalogridis served as senior vice president of Resort Operations for the Disneyland Resort, where he played a significant role in the first expansion of the resort - the opening of Disney's California Adventure park and Downtown Disney. In addition, he was responsible for the daily operations of both theme parks and three hotels, as well as Downtown Disney.
