Ona Novo González has been appointed as Co-Chapter Leader at WHTT Chapter Barcelona

Ona is a tourism and hotel management student at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (Universitat Ramon Llull), with a passion for culture, travel, and data science. She recently joined the team of The Hotels Network. Onastrongly believes in an inclusive, diverse, and feminist world as a way of life, which drove her to join the Team of WHTT Chapter Barcelona.  Her appointment to WHTT, is further the organisation's mission to increase the success and engagement in the workplace for women and other underrepresented groups, and to enable companies to attract, develop and retain potential diverse talent, nurtured by a powerful community. WHTT believes that by inspiring communities to enter the industry and organizations to leverage and retain in the sector, will create more diverse and inclusive leadership. Onais joining the existing team lead by Luz Alvarado, Idoia Herrero and Maribel Esparcia. 

Kimpton® Vividora Hotel, New Boutique Luxury Hotel To Open In Barcelona’s Historic Gothic Quarter In Early 2020

Kimpton Vividora Hotel will be the first hotel in Spain for the boutique luxury brand Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, an IHG® brand. Located in the famous Gothic Quarter, with 156 beautifully appointed guest rooms and three distinct restaurants and bars, Kimpton Vividora Hotel is poised to be the most exciting hotel opening in Barcelona in 2020.

David Kelly has been appointed as Senior VP Operations for Continental Europe at Hilton

Hilton has appointed David Kelly to the role of Senior Vice President, Operations, Continental Europe. Joining Hilton's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region from his current position overseeing Greater China and Mongolia, Kelly will oversee the operations of 57 hotels across 26 European countries. Kelly takes on his new role following the transfer of Jochem-Jan Sleiffer to become Hilton's Area President of Middle East, Africa & Turkey. Kelly joined Hilton in 1995, based in the USA, before heading to Australia to work in various operations and commercial roles for the company. Moving to China in 2012, at a critically important time for the company in Asia, he spearheaded the multi-brand growth of the China portfolio from 34 to over 210 hotels. In his current role since 2017, he has also led on various initiatives including strategic planning for China, setting out Hilton's vision for business growth in the region and by helping create a new localized version of the Hilton Garden Inn brand for the Chinese market. Kelly has championed diversity throughout his career, supporting the development of female leaders and increasing the number of women in General Manager positions. Kelly will assume his new position on 1 January 2020 and be based in Hilton’s regional office in Barcelona. He will relocate to the region with his wife Carol and son, Jayden.

Hard Rock Hotels to Open to the Beat of Barcelona

Hard Rock International continues growing its European hotel portfolio, announcing the development of Hard Rock Hotel Barcelona. The brand is set to bring its signature musical flair to the shores of Barcelona in a €200 million new hotel to be developed on the last available seaside plot in metropolitan Barcelona. Construction of the 504-room hotel will begin in late 2019, set to open on the shores of Barcelona in early 2022.

Almanac Barcelona announces the appointment of Alexandre de Noronha Dzelme as Director of Sales & Marketing for the 91-room hotel located at Gran Via de los Corte Catalunes in the heart of the Catalan capital. In his new position, Mr. Dzelme is responsible for the hotel's annual marketing strategy, sales initiatives for transient and corporate business, as well as the development of the M.I.C.E (Meetings and Incentives) market.
