Hakan Ozel has been appointed as General Manager at China World Summit Wing

A Turkish national and with over 10 years of experience in the Shangri-La family, Mr. Ozel brings strategic thinking and knowledge of hospitality from his diverse and rich career path in Asia and beyond. Prior to his current appointment, he was the general manager of Shangri La Hotel, Tianjin – the first hotel of the Shangri-La group in the city. He was also the resident manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing, where he undertook special projects to improve the hotel and its facilities. He has also worked at other properties the same group in Wenzhou, Shenzhen and Dalian, as well as Indonesia and the Sultanate of Oman.

Alan Stocker has been appointed as General Manager at Waldorf Astoria Beijing

Hilton Worldwide announced the appointment of Mr. Alan Stocker as general manager of Waldorf Astoria Beijing. Mr. Stocker will report to Bruce McKenzie, Senior Vice President of Operations, Greater China & Mongolia, and will be responsible for the entire operation of Waldorf Astoria Beijing. Mr. Stocker joins Waldorf Astoria Beijing from Hilton Chongqing, where he held the position of general manager. Mr. Alan Stocker will be based in Beijing and begin his position on 15 June 2015.

Christine Liu has been appointed as country manager for China at STR Global

A native of Malaysia, Andrew’s passion for hotels is in his blood. His father had a notable career with Pan Pacific Hotels until his retirement, and his brother is the resort manager of a boutique hotel in Phuket, Thailand. Though it appears Andrew is following in his father’s footsteps, his career in hotels was initially a rebellion – he became a server at the Concorde Hotel, Kuala Lumpur in his youth, even as his father encouraged him to build on his natural abilities in maths and physics and pursue engineering. While at the Concorde, Andrew fell in love with the fast-paced life of food and beverage and knew he had found his calling.

Renowned Chinese artist Zeng Fanzhi, Kempinski Hotels, and a host of culture and design experts are helping a state-owned tourism company give the “Chinese Dream" an ultra-luxury image with NUO, a new Chinese hotelier with big global ambitions. With branding undertaken by German luxury hotelier Kempinski and French consultancy Landor in consultation with Chinese historians and design experts, the Beijing location can be thought of as a modern interpretation of a Ming dynasty scholar's studio—albeit a much more opulent version. “We have moon gate-shaped doors, the furniture is Ming design; the style, the pattern is from Ming design as well," says NUO Beijing General Manager Adrian Rudin.

Paul Wright has been appointed as General Manager at Park Hyatt Beijing

Paul Wright has been selected as General Manager of Park Hyatt Beijing, effective from August 17, 2015. Wright started his tenure in 1994 at Hyatt Regency Perth, before advancing in various food-and-beverage management positions at Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove, Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Grand Hyatt Melbourne and Grand Hyatt Bali. In 2008, he became Hotel Manager of Park Hyatt Dubai and subsequently Grand Hyatt Beijing, before his most recent assignment as General Manager at the rebranded Grand Hyatt Incheon since 2012. Wright’s replacement at Grand Hyatt Incheon will be announced in the near future. Ronald Kang, currently Area Vice President and General Manager of Park Hyatt Beijing, will be temporarily assigned to the Beijing Support Centre for Hyatt Special Projects, effective from September 1, 2015. Ronald’s next assignment will be announced in the near future.

Jakob Hirschmann has been appointed as Rooms Division Manager at Regent Beijing

Regent Hotels & Resorts is delighted to announce the appointment of Jakob Hirschmann as Rooms Division Manager of Regent Beijing, its flagship hotel in Mainland China effective from 23 September, 2014. Mr Hirschmann has a wealth of experience in the luxury hospitality industry with prior appointments at Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Las Vegas Sands Corporation, InterContinental Hotels Group and Rocco Forte Hotels in Germany, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, Singapore and Macau. He joins Regent Hotels & Resorts from GHM Hotels where he held the position of Front Office Manager at The Chedi Andermatt. A German national, Mr Hirschmann joined the hotel industry in 2005 as an apprentice at InterContinental Berchtesgaden Resort in southern Germany and holds a Diploma in Hotel Management from Berchtesgaden County School of Hospitality Management. “Jakob is renowned for focusing on excellence in all aspects of hotel operations. His invaluable experience and record for maintaining superb service and product quality, will be vital,” said Nick Porter, Regent Beijing‘s General Manager. “We are delighted to welcome him to his new position, and wish him continued success,” he added.
