Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Jan Chovanec, as General Manager of Swissôtel Beijing Hong Kong Macau Center with immediate effect. Mr. Chovanec brings with him over 39 years of hospitality experience internationally and first joined Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts in 1998.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will introduce its second Kerry Hotel on 19 November 2011. Marking the completion of the first phase of a multimillion-dollar renovation, Shangri-La's Kerry Centre Hotel, Beijing will be rebranded as Kerry Hotel, Beijing. It joins its sister hotel, Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, which launched the brand in February 2011.

Beijing authorities plan to build a "seven-star hotel" modelled after Dubai's Burj Khalifa - the world's tallest building - in a $1.3 billion joint project with Saudi Arabia. The hotel will be erected in western Beijing's Mentougou district some 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the Chinese capital's centre, the state-run Beijing Morning Post said in a Thursday report, quoting a local parliamentary meeting.
