Andy Cuthbert has been appointed as General Manager at Jumeirah Mina A’Salam

Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hotel company and a member of Dubai Holding, has appointed Andy Cuthbert as the new General Manager of the award-winningJumeirah Mina A’Salam at Madinat Jumeirah, The Arabian Resort of Dubai. Andy will continue his current responsibilities as General Manager of Conference and Events atMadinat Jumeirah and Jumeirah Hospitality. An Australian national, Andy has over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality and catering industry. He started his career in Australia and the UK where he gained experience in a number of culinary roles. He moved to Dubai in 1992 as Executive Chef at the Hilton Beach Club where he stayed until joining Jumeirah Group in 2002. During his tenure, Andy has conducted several senior management roles at Jumeirah Emirates Towers and was the driving force behind the award-winning Madinat Conference Centre and Jumeirah Hospitality. Andy is one of the founding members of the Emirates Culinary Guild and has been Chairman for the last 16 years. During this time, he has led the culinary standards in the UAE and won major chefs’ competitions around the world. Andy is also Chairman of the ‘World Association of Chefs’ Societies’ young chef development team and an external consultant and lecturer on event management and risk management at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management.

Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management Partners with The Malta Institute of Tourism Studies to Promote Excellence in International Tourism & Hospitality Studies

The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), one of the world's leading hospitality business management schools and an integral part of the global luxury hotel company, Jumeirah Group, has signed an agreement with the Malta Institute of Tourism Studies. The objective of this memorandum of understanding is to provide vocational, degree and post graduate programmes for thousands of students.Gerald Lawless, Head of Tourism and Hospitality, Dubai Holding and Chancellor of the EAHM visited Malta to meet with His Excellency Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta, to see the site of the new college, and to sign the agreement.In relation to this new project, Gerald Lawless stated:"EAHM has established its reputation over the last 15 years as one of the best hotel schools in the world, and has very much become a centre of excellence in university-level education for aspiring professionals in the hospitality industry. We are honoured to have been chosen by the Government of Malta to work with the Institute of Tourism Studies."
