Hilton has appointed Samir Avasthi as cluster commercial director for Hampton by Hilton, Canopy by Hilton, Curio Collection (all in the Al Seef area) and DoubleTree by Hilton in Business Bay. He brings 16 years of experience in hotel sales, revenue, marketing and operational leadership experience to the role. He arrived in the UAE in September 2020, following spells leading Hilton's International sales office in India until 2015 and general manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Gurgaon, where he oversaw the tripling of revenue. Hilton says Avasthi was chosen to lead the commercial affairs of Al Seef Hilton cluster along with the Business Bay hotel for his versatile and skilled sales and marketing background and experience in developing, strategising and improving sales for hotels.

As a Director of Business Development at Hilton Singapore, he led the Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management and Reservation department for a 421-key property, quickly managing to improve hotel's 'market performance with strategic segment mix adjustment and inventory management which all resulted in exceeding hotels revenue budget.Amarinder also worked at Hilton India Regional Office as a Regional Director of Revenue Management from 2017 to 2019, successfully manag ing regional growth for a portfolio of 17 trading and three pre-opening hotels.Hailing from India, Amarinder graduated in Hospitality Management from Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in New Delhi and also holds a Restaurant Revenue Management diploma from E Cornell University of Hotel Administration.In his earlier career, Amarinder held key Revenue Management and Operational positions with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, IHG, and Carlson group of hote ls in India and Malaysia.
Phil, a British national brings 19 years of hospitality experience to his new role in which he will oversee the operations of the Media City hotel, including its F&B outlets, outside catering, 12 meeting rooms and 246 keys, leading the culinary teams in all of the hotels dining venues, including Italian restraint Certo, media city hangout ICON Bar and rooftop Tamanya Terrace.Roberts has previously worked f or Radisson Hotel Group for a few years 2001 - 2008 as an executive head chef for Park Inn by Radisson, Telford and Park Inn by Radisson, Northampton.Before joining Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City, he served as the Hotel Operations Manager at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa where he catered more than 700 guests daily overseeing both kitchen and F&B service operations.

General manager at the new Element Al Jaddaf in Dubai is Richard Bleakley, a hospitality veteran who first joined Marriott in the UK more than 20 years ago. Bleakley started out in the marketing and sales divisions, being made operations director at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club in 2007. By 2009 he was already general manager of Northampton Marriott Hotel.
