Generator and Freehand Hotels, the sister leading international hybrid accommodation brands, have appointed Dirk Lobowsky as Senior Vice President of Global Sales.
Frank Fuhrmann, who has been working as Executive Assistant Manager at the hotel since September, is heading up the hotel on an interim basis in October.
A change in top management at Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt, Germany: Kai Behrens took over the leadership of the five-star superior hotel on 1 November. The 49-year-old has a long history of experience at Kempinski: He has been working solely for the hotel group since 2007 at destinations all around the world. Most recently, he served as General Manager, responsible for both Kempinski Hotel Adriatic in Croatia and Kempinski Palace Portorož in Slovenia. It is his work at these holiday resorts that helped him set new objectives for Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt.
Looking to expand in one of Europe's strongest hotel markets, HVS has appointed Alexander Bock as director for Germany. Based in the Frankfurt area, he will be responsible for the German-speaking markets and expanding HVS's footprint therein.
Two hotels are now being run by the same familiar face. Matthias Sieber-Wagner, General Manager of the IntercityHotel Mainz, took on the additional responsibility of heading up the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport on 1 April 2022. Mr. Sieber-Wagner is following in the footsteps of the previous General Manager Uwe Troll, who has now retired after almost 50 years in the hotel business and five years at the helm of the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport.
A tense wait has proved worthwhile. On 9 March 2022, the Guide Michelin revealed who the new stars of the German restaurant scene would be. The “Français” at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, which is headed up by Patrick Bittner, was able to retain its star. Patrick Bittner, who fires the enthusiasm of guests with his creations inspired by French haute cuisine, was awarded his first star by the Michelin jury as long ago as 2009.
Peter B. Mikkelsen will lead the Steigenberger Airporthotel Frankfurt with effect from 1 October 2021.
A series of exhibitions entitled “tinyBE • living in a sculpture” is set to provide a truly inimitable hotel and cultural experience between 26 June and 26 September 2021 as it joins forces with the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof to offer overnight accommodation inside unique pieces of art.
Added safety for conferences: Anyone holding a meeting, conference, trade fair or even a wedding at Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt can book rapid antigen tests for participants. "We have set up a mobile rapid testing station in the treatment rooms of our Country Club & Spa, where guests can be tested directly before an event or a meeting to determine whether they are infected with the coronavirus," reports Hotel Director Karina Ansos. "This significantly increases safety for all participants, and is in line with the German federal government's testing strategy."
Frankfurt's newest quarter Gateway Gardens is about to gain a conference and meetings centre. Steigenberger Hotels AG and the property developer Groß & Partner have signed an agreement to create one of Germany's largest convention hotels within the direct vicinity of Frankfurt Airport. Once complete, the Steigenberger Kongress Hotel Frankfurt Airport will provide 527 rooms and suites across 18 storeys and a Conference Centre extending over an area of 5,500 square metres. It will also be located at an international transport hub which lies at the very heart of Europe. The official ground-breaking ceremony will take place in 2021, and the hotel is scheduled to open in 2024. Gateway Gardens already has its own stop on the Frankfurt suburban railway network, and the Steigenberger Kongress Hotel will be situated right in front of this station. Trains will whisk passengers to the airport's own regional station in only two minutes, whilst Frankfurt Central Station is also only nine minutes away. These excellent links combined with the new facilities on offer will create a wealth of new opportunities for event organisers.
Reporting to Frank Heller, Regional Director of Germany for Rocco Forte Hotels, Steinmaier joins Villa Kennedy from Roomers Hotel in Munich where he was the Hotel Manager and part of the opening team. Prior to this he was Director of Food & Beverage at Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski in Munich.
In Germany, Jumeirah Frankfurt welcomes Daniela Fette-Rakowski as General Manager of Jumeirah Frankfurt. Daniela holds 16 years in the hotel industry, and has a strong commercial background, having been responsible for driving the Sales & Marketing strategy with global brands such as Kempinski and Steinberger Hotels. Daniela transitioned into operations with Rocco Forte Hotels, and her most recent role was as Hotel Manager at the Rocco Forte Villa Kennedy Hotel, Frankfurt.
Ulrike Fröhlich has been appointed new Director of the IntercityHotel Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and will also take up her position on 1 October 2019. Ms. Fröhlich has, in fact, been familiar with her new place of work since 2006. After completing training as a hotel specialist, she went on to work there as Deputy Manager and Head of Reception. She has also been employed at the IntercityHotel Freiburg and in the last years Fröhlich worked as General Manager at the IntercityHotel Kiel. She also has experience in various positions at Maritim and in the private hotel industry.

Joanna's new role was created as part of IHG's efforts to develop an effective market model for Europe in order to bring resources closer to owners and hotels. This process led to the creation of the newly formed divisional team in IHG's Frankfurt office under the leadership of Mario Maxeiner, Managing Director, Northern Europe. In her new role, Joanna will be a member of the Northern European Leadership team, directly reporting into Mario Maxeiner.Born and raised in Warsaw, Joanna has been with IHG for 8 years and brings a strong background in Finance and Operations to her new role. Starting as Director of Finance & Business Support at the InterContinental Warsaw, a position she held for three years, Joanna went on to various Finance and Operations roles throughout IHG's European business. Most recently, she held the role of Operations Finance Director for the Luxury & Managed estate in Europe.
Claudia Feuß has taken up the managerial reins at the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof Süd, the largest of more than 40 hotels which operate under the IntercityHotel brand. Her appointment is effective from 26 April 2019. The official handover of responsibility from Anton M. Wüstefeld to Ms. Feuß was celebrated by a donation of €20,000 made to the Rödelheim Children's Early Intervention Centre. Mr. Wüstefeld, who won a "Best Iconic Employee" title at the 2017 Worldwide Hospitality Awards, spent almost 50 years with IntercityHotel GmbH's parent company Steigenberger Hotels AG and left a lasting mark on the group during this period.

In announcing the opening of the new office in Germany, ALHI’s Chief Sales Officer Mark Sergot also announced that hospitality industry sales professional Becky Dimant has joined ALHI as Executive Director of Global Sales for Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Based in ALHI’s new sales office in the Frankfurt area, she assists meeting and incentive professionals in the three countries with coordinating programs at any of ALHI’s member hotels or resorts, and with ALHI’s “Alliance” partners, which includes 23 luxury cruise ships appropriate for meeting and incentive programs, and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) in 100-plus locations worldwide.
Uwe Troll will be taking over as General Manager of the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport following nine years spent successfully establishing the IntercityHotel Mainz, which he ran from the pre-opening phase onwards.
