Doyle, a hotelier with 25 years of UK experience, joins the 142-bedroom hotel from Crowne Plaza Newcastle- Stephenson Quarter, where he has held the role of general manager for the last two years. During this time, he also sat on the board of directors for Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, helping to put Newcastle Gateshead on the national and international stage.

Kurt Macher has been appointed as General Manager at Shangri-La hotel at the Shard London

Macher, who has more than 28-years' experience in the luxury travel industry, joins the five-red-AA-star, 202-bedroom hotel from the Temple House in Chengdu, China, where he held the same position as well as sitting on the board of the British Chamber of Commerce in Southwest China. Macher has also held senior management roles including Wharf hotels, Four Seasons hotels and resorts and the Peninsula Group. He replaces Paul Brackley who stepped down last month after three years with the hotel to "pursue other opportunities".
