James Dugan has been appointed as Executive Chef at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, Mayfair

Former Four Seasons hotel chef James Dugan has been appointed executive chef at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, Mayfair. Dugan began his career at the five-starred Chewton Glen hotel in 1993 as commis chef and worked his way up through the luxury hospitality sector. In 1995, he joined the team at the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, under the Michelin-starred Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Markus Savage has been appointed as Food and Beverage Director at Blakes Hotel

Blakes Hotel, one of the world’s first luxury boutique hotels, is pleased to announce the appointment of Markus Savage as Food and Beverage Director. Effective as of 21st May 2017, Markus will oversee all of the food and beverage operations at the South Kensington establishment, encompassing the recently relaunched Blakes Restaurant and underground bar, Blakes Below, as well as the newly designed courtyard, The Garden at Blakes. Bringing over 20 years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry to the role, he has received various accolades along the way, and gained invaluable experience during his time at some of the most iconic restaurants in London as well as the five-star hotel industry. Markus joins Blakes Hotel following his most recent role as General Manager of HIX Mayfair. Before then he held the title of Events Operations Manager at The Holborn Dining Room at Rosewood Hotel. Markus was responsible at a senior management role to a 200 cover dining room, as well as a separate 30 cover terrace and takeaway deli. In his earlier career Markus built a strong operational background in the food and beverage sector holding positions at The Ivy and J Sheekey’s. He later spent eight years working as Restaurant Manager at The Wolseley and The Delaunay, both of which received critical acclaim under his leadership for outstanding service. As F&B Director, Markus Savage will bring his wealth of experience and innate charm to lead Blakes Hotel’s in-house Restaurant and Bar with impeccable service and detail. Commentating on his new appointment, Markus says ‘I am incredibly excited to assume my role at Blakes Hotel, an establishment that is full of so much history and upholds such a notable reputation in London.’

Mark Gorgon has been appointed as Vice President, U.K. & Europe at Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI)

In this newly created position he assists meeting professionals, association executives, incentive specialists and business executives throughout Europe who are interest ed in conducting meetings, conventions and/or incentive programs at any of ALHIs distinguished member hotels or resorts. ALHIs portfolio features more than 250 luxury-level and upper-upscale hotels and resorts around the world, which are either independent or are with an independent hotel brand, and which specialize in serving M.I.C.E. business.

Mark Gillings has been appointed as Regional Area Manager at Cycas Hospitality

Mark Gillings joins as Regional Area Manager. He will be part of the opening team for Starwood Capital Group’s portfolio, which includes; Residence Inn – London Bridge and Residence Inn London – Kensington as well as two further Cycas managed serviced apartment properties in Bermondsey and Tower Bridge. With over 20 years’ experience in international hospitality, Mark is an accomplished hotel management professional with strong business acumen and leadership skills.

Chiara Vierchowod has been appointed as Operations Manager at The Wellesley Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel

The Wellesley Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel, London, is pleased to announce that Chiara Vierchowod has been appointed as Operations Manager. Overlooking The Royal Hyde Park, The Wellesley Knightsbridge is London’s finest boutique-grand hotel; combining sophisticated luxury with captivating grandeur and uncompromising service. In April 2017 the hotel joined The Luxury Collection, one of Marriott International’s eight contemporary luxury brands. Vierchowod joins The Wellesley Knightsbridge following managerial roles at The Kensington; Millennium & Copthorne Hotels At Chelsea Football Club; The Hoxton; and The Bentley London. She brings an MA in Hospitality Management from LS Business School at the London School of Marketing, in addition to over ten years of UK hospitality experience. She was born in Como, Italy, and studied Pharmacy before falling in love with the hospitality industry. She travelled in Greece, Spain and the Caribbean, and then moved to London in 2009 to pursue a career in hotel management and operations. Vierchowod speaks five languages, including French, German and Spanish.

Daniel Esplen has been appointed as General Manager at Sofitel London Heathrow

Sofitel London Heathrow, the airports only premium hotel directly connected to Terminal 5, has appointed Daniel Esplen as Hotel Manager of the 605 room hotel, managed and operated by Arora Hotels. Esplen joins Sofitel London Heathrow from his current role as Director of Food and Beverage at Aloft Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, where he assisted in the pre-opening and launch of the hotel in September 2016. With 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Esplen has held a number of operational and food and beverage director positions at several four and five star international hotels in the Starwood Hotels and Resorts collection. As well as at The Grand Millennium Hotel in Dubai, following a move from The Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto, Canada in 2014.
