Luis Mendez has been appointed as Director of Sales at Kimpton EPIC Hotel

Kimpton EPIC Hotel announced the appointment of Luis Mendez as Director of Sales for the renowned Downtown Miami property. In his new role, Mendez will be responsible for planning and implementing sales and development programs for EPIC, focusing on new and existing markets. New to the Kimpton brand, Mendez brings more than 25 years of international hospitality experience in the sales and marketing sector. Most recently, he served as Associate Director of Sales and Marketing at the InterContinental Miami, and before this post, he served as Director of Meetings and Incentives for Karisma Hotels. Mendez's career includes work with The Ritz Carlton, Renaissance and IHG properties in Puerto Rico, where he held various senior leadership roles.

Hyatt Centric Brickell Miami Opens in Miami’s Financial District

Hyatt announces the opening of Hyatt Centric Brickell Miami, located in Miami"s thriving Brickell Financial District. The newly constructed full-service lifestyle hotel, located at 1102 Brickell Bay Drive, is situated within the first 19 floors of the new 83-story Panorama Tower, the tallest building in Miami. The hotel is owned by Concord Aztec Brickell LLC, a joint venture comprised of Aztec Group and Concord Hospitality, which operates the hotel.

Abelardo (Piro) Hernandez has been appointed as Senior Director of Hotel Development Latin America at WorldHotels

Hernandez brings extensive experience to his role as senior director of development for Latin America, having over three decades of industry knowledge. In this new position, he will be responsible for overseeing efforts to increase the WorldHotels portfolio of qualified hotels in Latin America. During his hospitality career, Hernandez was employed with Preferred Hotel Group for nine years, serving as regional marketing manager for Latin America before being promoted to regional director for Latin America, representing the company's luxury brands.

Dan McDermott has been appointed as General Manager at Pullman Miami Airport

McDermott brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience to his role at the helm of Pullman Miami Airport. As general manager, he will be overseeing operations at the property, providing strategic direction to all departments and leading a team of 250 colleagues, with the ultimate goal of delivering unparalleled service to guests. McDermott joins Pullman Miami Airport from the Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel where he also served as general manager. Prior to that, McDermott also held general manager positions at the Marenas Beach Resort Miami in Sunny Isles, Florida; Hotel Irvine in Irvine, California; and El Conquistador, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, in Puerto Rico.

Adam Leon has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Pullman Miami Airport

In his new position as director of sales and marketing, Leon will be responsible for generating new sales initiatives that increase revenue for the property, as well as de veloping marketing strategies that are innovative and tactical to keep up with today's evolving hospitality marketplace. With more than 20 years of experience in the hotel industry, Leon has a concrete history of success in sales and revenue management, having led sales teams for various renowned Miami hotels such as the Hotel Colonnade and the Hyatt Regency, both in Coral Gables, Florida, as well as the Hilton Palm Beach Oceanfront Resort, Florida and Wyndham International from 1997 to 2001. Leon holds a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University and served as President of The South Florida JWU Alumni Chapter from 2010 to 2014.

Ricardo Mendes has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Centric Brickell Miami

Arthur Holman has been appointed as General Manager at Residence Inn Miami Beach/Surfside

Atlanta-based Hotel Equities announced the hiring of Arthur Holman as the new General Manager of the 175-room Residence Inn by Marriott Miami Beach/Surfside, FL located at 92nd Street and Collins Avenue in the Surfside area of Miami Beach. Hotel Equities manages the property for Hotel Development Partners (HDP) of Atlanta, their JV partner.Mr. Holman came to Hotel Equities from Lodging Dynamics Hospitality Group (LDHG) in Provo, Utah, where he served as the Vice President of Operations and helped to grow the company from three hotels to 20, representing 13 brands within a period of eight years. He began his hospitality career in accounting at the Provo Park Hotel (currently the Provo Marriott). After Mr. Holman earned a promotion to Controller, Sunstone Hotels tapped him as the opening General Manager of the Residence Inn by Marriott in Provo, Utah. Under his watch, the hotel became a consistent RevPAR leader and Mr. Holman captured the firm’s Rising Star and Chairman’s Circle awards for his leadership skills and financial success. In 2000, Lodging Dynamics Hospitality Group hired Mr. Holman as General Manager for the Residence Inn by Marriott in Salt Lake City, Utah. During his tenure, he spearheaded a complete renovation of the property including the conversion and addition of a 60-room independent hotel as an extension of the Residence Inn. He enhanced guest and associate satisfaction, increased the hotel’s profitability and hosted the U.S. Olympic Committee during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games before his promotion to VP of Operations for the firm. Mr. Holman earned a B.S. in Business Management with an emphasis in finance from Brigham Young University. He also holds a Certificate in Advanced Hospitality Revenue Management from Cornell University. An avid supporter of the nonprofit Operation Underground Railroad, he has also participated in numerous Marriott Spirit to Serve activities, including Habitat for Humanity. In his free time, he enjoys scuba diving, traveling and using his smoker to cook for his family. Mr. Holman and his wife Meredith are the parents of three daughters.

Michael MacDonnell has been named Food and Beverage Director at The Raleigh

BENCHMARK®, a global hospitality company, has appointed Ruben Sabater director of operations for Marenas Beach Resort, a Gemstone Collection property located in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Rikki Boparai, managing director, made the announcement. Ruben Sabater was previously general manager of The Sherry Frontenac Resort of Miami Beach, Florida. Prior to this appointment he worked with the Benchmark organization as regional engineering and facilities consultant, and earlier as director of operations for One Bal Harbour Resort & Spa, which Benchmark operated at the time. Prior to joining Benchmark, Mr. Sabater held leadership roles with the Mandarin Oriental Miami (director of engineering) as well as the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Tower. He resides in Miami.

Ernesto Luna has been named General Manager at Melia Me Miami
