Jason Pomeranc was bred to be a hotelier. He attended university in New York City before joining his father’s real estate firm, which later opened the 60 Thompson hotel in 2001. Pomeranc led what was then one of first trail-blazing boutique hotel groups for the next decade before merging the 12-property brand with the Joie de Vivre chain to create Commune Hotels & Resorts.

Boutique Design New York (BDNY), the specialized trade fair and conference serving the hospitality design industry, drew more than 5,000 attendees to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center for its fifth run, November 9-10, charting a 21% increase in attendance year-over-year. Ranked #1 in Trade Show Executive's 50 Fastest-Growing Shows of 2013, BDNY has seen double-digit growth each year since its 2010 debut. Exhibitor/sponsor participation increased by 14% for the 2014 trade fair, selling out an expanded 66,000 square feet of exhibit space two months prior to the event. Did you read that the old Knickerbocker Hotel (1906-1921) is about to open again as a hotel on February 12, 2015? This historic building opened as the Knickerbocker Hotel in 1906 with 556 rooms. Developers J.E. and A.L. Pennock originally financed the building in 1903 and retained architects Bruce Price and Marvin & Davis. Only one year later, John Jacob Astor IV, who owned the land, took over the troubled project. The interiors were redesigned by architects Trowbridge & Livingston and a three-story restaurant and bar was added with seating for 2,000 diners.

Dale has spent the last 15 years as Senior Director of Catering for Grand Hyatt New York, where he was directly responsible for seven catering managers and an overall food, beverage and room rental revenue of $40 million. During his time in this role, Dale received the Pritzker Award in 2011, the Director of the Year Award in 2006 and numerous Golden Key Awards.
