Shireen Rowley has been appointed as Sales Manager at INNSiDE Newcastle

The global hotel brand has appointed Shireen Rowley for the new role, where she will be responsible for the hotel's business development and sales activity from pre-opening stage to launch. Before joining INNSiDE by Meliá, Rowley took the lead as Director of Business Development at The Sandman Newcastle Hotel whilst supporting sales of their Gatwick and Aberdeen properties. Prior to this she was part of the Sodexo Prestige team, steering the Sales and Marketing functions for NUFC and Tyne and Wear Museums. Rowley has also been part of the sales teams at Barceló Hotels, County Durham and McDonald Linden Hall Hotel.

Andrew Fox has been appointed as General Manager at Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter

Andrew joins what is set to become Newcastle's most luxurious and contemporary hotel when it opens in Stephenson Quarter in July this year. His immediate task is recruiting his senior management team while also working closely with the property developer Clouston Group, overseeing the final phase of construction along with the fit-out. The hotel will be under a management contract with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®). Once complete, the seven-storey, 251-bed Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter will add a major new business conferencing and banqueting facility to the city. For Andrew, 48, the appointment represents an exciting challenge and a welcome return to the North East. Married with four children, he was brought up in Ponteland, Northumberland before leaving the area to study in Manchester and begin a career in hospitality. Now living in Morpeth, Andrew has around 25 years’ experience in the hospitality and leisure industry having most recently been regional general manager for Q-Hotels, overseeing a collection of hotels in the Midlands. Prior to that he worked at Crowne Plaza Nottingham and worked within management in Marriott Hotels for eight years.

Paolo Franchi has been appointed as General Manager at Hampton by Hilton Newcastle

Leading global hotel management company, Interstate Hotels & Resorts, has appointed Paolo Franchi as general manager at Hampton by Hilton Newcastle, scheduled to open in Spring 2015. The new 160 room city centre Hampton by Hilton Newcastle, which replaces the eight storey Baron House located on Neville Street, is located opposite Newcastle Central Station which has itself undergone a multi-million pound makeover. Franchi joins Interstate from his position as General Manager at the Quality Hotel Boldon near Newcastle where he was responsible for the pre-opening and opening of one of the region’s newest and most stylish hotels and oversaw the achievement of a four star rating for the area’s first and only four star hotel only nine months after opening.

Tess Campbell has been appointed as Deputy General Manager at Sleeperz Hotel Newcastle

Sleeperz Hotels, the innovative UK budget hotel operator, has appointed its youngest ever manager at its Newcastle city centre hotel. Tess Campbell, 23, from Darlington, has been promoted to Deputy General Manager at Sleeperz Hotels Newcastle, just one year after joining the company to work at its premium budget hotel near Newcastle Central Station. Ms. Campbell studied International Tourism Management at Leeds Metropolitan University and worked at Hotel Bannatyne, Darlington and at MalMaison in Leeds before being recruited by Sleeperz as reception manager at its first North East Hotel. Mark Armstrong, general manager of Sleeperz Hotel Newcastle, said: “Every once in a while you find someone who has all the personal qualities you look for in a future leader and in Tess’ case her age was irrelevant, she was ready and willing to take on management responsibility and she is already making a major impact on the business.”
