200-Room The Peninsula Paris Opens its Doors

Following an extensive four-year restoration and marking the debut of The Peninsula Hotels into Europe, the newest hotel in The Peninsula Hotels' portfolio, The Peninsula Paris, opened today and welcomed its first guests. The Peninsula celebrated its opening with a speech by guest of honour Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, followed by an early- afternoon ribbon-cutting ceremony and traditional Chinese lion dance honouring The Peninsula Hotels' Asian heritage. Cutting the ribbon to launch the hotel was guest of honour Fleur Pellerin, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, together with Sheikh Nawaf Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani, Chairman of Katara Hospitality, Clement Kwok, CEO of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (HSH) and Nicolas Béliard, General Manager of The Peninsula Paris.

Deloitte - French Hotel Industry Performances - June 2014

June finished on a negative note, with the French hotel industry posting a decline in RevPAR. The reason? The seemingly never-ending difficult economic situation that is impacting the hotel industry, coupled with an even-numbered year with fewer MICE(*) activities: the latter illustrates how a destination's events calendar has become highly strategic for many tourism actors.

Eric-Michel Omgba has been promoted to Director of Operations at ACCOR

Eric-Michel OMGBA H05 has been promoted to Director of Operations for 23 Accor Hotels. He will supervise the daily operations of owned or managed properties. He becomes the youngest French DOP of Accor France. Prior to that Eric-Michel was General Manager Ibis Paris Berthier; one of the largest Accor property in the world and previously Regional General Manager supervising 25 Hotels for the Louvre Hotels Group.

Eric VINCENT IMHI 1990 has been appointed Managing Director for Groupe Bertrand, major actor in the French catering field. Prior to that Eric was CEO at Fauchon Group worldwide. Throughout his career, Eric Vincent has managed Potel and Chabot in Russia, joined the international management of Sogeres and then of the Group Flo before managing Hippopotamus and being Groupe FLO COO during five years.

French Hotel Industry Performances - May 2014

After a slight upturn in April (leading to great hopes for a recovery), May finished on a negative note, with most destinations recording a drop in performance. Trading was affected by an unfavourable agenda for business tourism. The numerous bank holidays reduced business demand, and the leisure segment – still cautious given the economic climate – remained insufficient to offset this decline.

Le Bristol Paris has announced the appointment of Sonia Papet to the position of Head Concierge. After more than 17 years' experience in luxury hotels in France and abroad, Sonia joined the very closed circle of women holding the position of Head Concierge in a prestige hotel. Already a female representative in the Clefs d'Or concierge association since 2005, she is currently the only woman to be Head Concierge in a Parisian luxury hotel.

Prior to that, Jean-marie stayed 6 years at the Hotel Lutétia, the only palace of the left bank, as Rooms Division & Quality Manager. The Lutétia closed in April for a 3 year full refurbishment.
