Christophe Saintagne has been appointed as Head Chef at Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée

Christophe Saintagne has been appointed Head Chef of Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée in Paris. The move to the Michelin three-star restaurant at Hôtel Plaza Athénée follows two years as Chief Executive of Alain Ducasse Enterprises. Saintagne’s relationship with Ducasse goes back 10 years to when he joined the kitchen staff of 59 Poincaré at Hôtel Plaza Athénée. In 2002, he departed to become Head Chef of Aux Lyonnais in Paris and then moved on in 2005 to become Assistant to Jean-François Piège at Hôtel de Crillon. In 2008, Saintagne returned to take the helm at Ducasse’s restaurant group, with focus on supervising restaurants throughout France, Japan and the UK. He also shared authorship with Ducasse on ‘Nature, Simple, Healthy and Good,’ published in 2009. Born in Normandy, Saintagne studied at Auberge du Logis in Conteville, France, working with acclaimed Chef Guillaume Louet. “I’m proud Alain Ducasse has put his confidence in me and delighted to be back on a team whose sole objective is to satisfy its clientele,” noted Saintagne of his appointment.

Alain Borgers has been named General Manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris

Mr. Borgers, from Belgium, has spent a significant portion of his career in South East Asia, 13 years of which he spent working for Shangri-La Hotel and Resorts. Graduating from Lausanne’s respected Ecole Hôtlière – one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious hotel schools – he began his international career in the luxury hotel industry at the Geneva Hilton, quickly attaining the position of restaurant director. He was then named executive assistant manager at Nile Hilton in Cairo, and moved on to the same role in Osaka, Japan. In 1994 Mr. Borgers became resident manager of Makati Shangri-La, Manila in the Philippines, and was later named general manager for hotels in the group in Bali, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. During the three years prior to joining the executive team at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, he served as managing director of Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort, Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, which was named Best Resort in Malaysia by the Malaysian Tourism Board in 2006-2007.

Pierre Ferchaud has been appointed as General Manager at Hotel Fouquet's Barrière

Ferchaud's illustrious career began in 1968 after graduating from the Ecole Hôtelière de Strasbourg. He has worked at some of Europe's finest hotels, including the Grosvenor House in London, the Meurice and Prince de Galles in Paris and the Palace in Madrid. He has also worked at the Society Nouvelle du Grand Hotel (SNGH), where he served in the company's head office in addition to serving as Resident Manager at Paris' Grand Hotel, one of the company's individual properties. From 1988 to 1993, Ferchaud worked for the Concorde Hotels Group as the company's Senior Executive Vice-President and then as General Manager of the Hotel Concorde Lafayette. In 1993 Ferchaud became General Manager of the Hotel Bristol in Paris, one of the world's most prestigious hotels. With his arrival at Hotel Fouquet's Barrière, Ferchaud is committed to bringing the same level of care and commitment to excellence by which his career has been marked.

Steven R. Goldman has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer at Groupe du Louvre

Goldman will be appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Du Louvre, one of Starwood Capital's portfolio investment holding companies based in France, where he will be permanently based. An industry veteran, Mr. Goldman has been involved in all aspects of hotel acquisitions, finance, development and operations for more than 27 years. At Groupe du Louvre, Mr. Goldman will be responsible for all aspects of the firm's holdings, which include Concorde Hotels and Louvre Hotels.

Philippe Leboeuf has been appointed as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Paris

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Philippe Leboeuf as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Paris which is scheduled to open by mid 2011. His appointment is effective from 1 June 2010. Leboeuf has over 25 years of senior management experience in the luxury hotel industry. He has worked in the world’s most important locations, including New York, London and Paris. He joins Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group from Claridge’s in London where he held the position of General Manager since 2007. From 1995 to 2001, Leboeuf was Managing Director of the Crillon Hotel in Paris, and then became Executive Vice President of Crillon’s owning company, Group des Hotels Concorde. In 2004 he was appointed Executive Vice President of Louvre Hotels with responsibility for operations, sales, marketing and development. In 2006, Leboeuf moved to Dallas in the capacity of Vice President, Operations for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. He was also a Board Director of The Leading Hotels of the World organisation from 1999 – 2006. Leboeuf is a graduate of HEC School of Management in France. A French national, Leboeuf is also fluent in English, Italian and Spanish. He sits on the board of the French children’s cancer charity “Chacun son Everest”.
