Newly promoted from the property's director of sales & marketing where she was responsible for the day-to-day management of sales and operations, Giger previously held several leadership roles at hotels across Pittsburgh. Her experience spans positions including director of group sales at Renaissance Hotel Pittsburgh, group sales manager at Sheraton Pittsburgh at Station Square and catering sales manager at The University Club in Pittsburgh.

Kelly Giger, director of sales & marketing, brings more than 15 years of hospitality experience to The Industrialist's executive team. After graduating from Johnson & Wales University with a degree in Culinary Arts, Giger joined The Doubletree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown as director of banquets. In 2015, Giger transitioned to a role in group sales, eventually working her way up to director of group sales at The Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel.

Robert Brashler has been appointed as General Manager at The Industrialist Hotel, Autograph Collection

Robert Brashler, general manager, with more than two decades of experience in hotel management, will oversee all day-to-day operations at The Industrialist. Prior to joining The Industrialist, Brashler served as general manager for IHG Hotels & Resorts' EVEN Hotel, a 160-room property in downtown Pittsburgh. Brashler has also held general manager positions at DoubleTree by Hilton at Pittsburgh International Airport, Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel, Hyatt Place New York/Midtown South and Fairfield Inn & Suites Manhattan/Chelsea, where he earned recognition as "General Manager of the Year."

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh Plans Summer Groundbreaking of $60 Million North Shore Hotel

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh announced today that it will break ground on a $60 million North Shore hotel later this summer. The seven-story, four-star property will be called "The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh" and will include 219 guest rooms. The hotel will attach to the existing casino on the east facade, facing the Carnegie Science Center.

The Oaklander Hotel Opens in Pittsburgh, PA on February 28, 2019

The Oaklander Hotel is scheduled to open on Thursday, February 28, 2019, along with its highly anticipated restaurant, Spirits & Tales. The Oaklander is located on Bigelow Boulevard across from Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, next to the former Pittsburgh Athletic Association (PAA) in Pittsburgh's Oaklandneighborhood. As a part of Marriott's esteemed Autograph Collection, the luxe boutique hotel has 167 guest rooms, five event spaces, and one restaurant. The Oaklander is the first Autograph Collection hotel to open in the state of Pennsylvania.

Joseph Hull has been appointed as General Manager at SpringHill Suites by Marriott West Mifflin

Strand Hospitality recently announced it has hired Joseph Hull as the General Manager of the SpringHill Suites West Mifflin, PA. Hull will oversee the day-to-day operations and direct leadership of the staff at the newly renovated hotel, which is located at 1000 Regis Ave. in Pittsburgh, PA. Hull most recently worked as the General Manager for the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Pittsburgh, where he was responsible for all of the daily activities at the hotel including; budgets, forecasts, team leadership, guest satisfaction and compliance with franchise standards. During his time at the Fairfield, Hull consistently received guest satisfaction scores of 90% or higher.

Pittsburgh gets new Residence Inn Hotel

The 144-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is scheduled to open this Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Located at 3341 Forbes Avenue, the all-suite Residence Inn Pittsburgh Oakland/University Place will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by MWK Forbes II, LLC and managed by North Star Lodging Management Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Located adjacent to Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh Oakland Campus, the Residence Inn Pittsburgh Oakland/University Place offers its guests convenient access to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center hospitals, Petersen Events Center as well as Carnegie Mellon, Carlow and Chatham Universities. The hotel is also located near PPG Paints Arena, PNC Park, Heinz Field and Rivers Casino. Rates vary depending on length of stay.

Meghan Earnshaw has joined Fairmont Pittsburgh as Director of Operations. Meghan will oversee all hotel operations at the 185-room Four Diamond property including rooms, food and beverage, and the Health Club & Spa at Fairmont Pittsburgh. She will also work with all departments to continually enhance guest satisfaction and maintain Fairmont Pittsburghs position as the #1 Hotel in Pittsburgh (U.S. News & World Report, 2016). Bringing over 12 years of hospitality experience, she joins Fairmont Pittsburgh from Fairmont Chicago and her most recent role of Director of Rooms.

Simon Boden has been appointed as Director, Sales & Marketing at Fairmont Pittsburgh

Fairmont Pittsburgh Welcomes Simon Boden as director of sales & marketing. Boden brings 16 years of management experience to this position, joining the company in 1999 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club as a sales manager, business travel. Boden later transferred to Fairmont Orchid as director of revenue management. Most recently, Boden held the position of director, sales & revenue, Fairmont Southampton.

Alisa Faulk has been named General Manager of the Year at the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association

Concord Hospitality Enterprises, one of the nation’s top-ranked hotel developer/owner/operators, announced that Alisa Faulk of the company's Courtyard by Marriott, Settlers Ridge was named General Manager of the Year by the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association (GPHA) at the organization's annual meeting and gala. The General Manager of the Year award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated professionalism in operating a property and taken a leadership role in the industry by actively participating in association, community or industry programs. Faulk is the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce and has a long resume of personal volunteer commitments, including the annual WDVE Rocks for Children’s Radiothon, Hard to Recycle and being a guest bartender at the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Mixer with Shakers event. Under Faulk's leadership, the hotel previously won GPHA's 2014 award for community service for Concord's annual Share Day event on behalf of Feed the Children, participation in the national Clean the World program and nearly a dozen other community activities.

Edie, a white Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix has been appointed as official Canine Ambassador at The Fairmont Pittsburgh

Fairmont Pittsburgh is pleased to announce the appointment of Edie, a white Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix, as the hotel’s official Canine Ambassador. Edie – whose name is inspired by Andy Warhol and his “superstar” Edie Sedgwick – provides guests with a warm welcome in the lobby and is readily available to accompany them on walks around the hotel. Edie was born in March 2010, the same month that Fairmont Pittsburgh opened its doors. She began training in the assistant dog program at Circle Tail, Inc. in Pleasant Plain, Ohio as a puppy. After completing over a year of training, Edie’s friendly and outgoing personality proved to be better suited to the hospitality industry where she gets to meet new people every day. At work five days a week, Edie is stationed in the lobby where she relaxes on her cozy bed near the concierge desk. Just like all colleagues at Fairmont Pittsburgh, Edie wears a nametag, keeps an appointment book and even has her own email address so that guests can keep in touch. Edie is looking forward to hosting her own events at the hotel with other canine companions and getting involved in the community at schools, nursing homes and local events. At the end of the day, Edie heads home with Julie Abramovic, public relations manager, where she spends her free time going for even more walks, playing at the local dog park and chewing on her favorite toys. Fairmont Pittsburgh is a pet-friendly hotel and encourages travelers to bring their own furry friends when they visit. Dogs arriving at the hotel are offered healthy treats made by Executive Pastry Chef Naomi Gallego, along with walking maps and complimentary pet beds and dishes. Matthew Sterne has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Pittsburgh

Fairmont is pleased to announce several recent management and supervisory-level appointments at its properties worldwide. Matthew Sterne, who takes on the role of general manager, Fairmont Pittsburgh. Sterne started with the company as assistant director, human resources, Fairmont Tremblant then transferred to The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa followed by The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and most recently Fairmont Battery Wharf, where he held the role of general manager.
