Simon Antoine has been appointed as General Manager at InterContinental® Washington DC – The Wharf

InterContinental® Washington DC – The Wharf, DC’s soon-to-open southern waterfront luxury hotel, announces today the appointment of Simon Antoine as General Manager. Slated to open fall 2017, the much-anticipated 278-room property, is both an architectural triumph and hospitality game-changer for the area south of the National Mall, which until now has been left relatively undeveloped. As General Manager, Antoine brings more than three decades of industry experience to the new hotel, where he is responsible for the vision and development of the property while overseeing all hotel operations including sales, marketing, revenue management, food and beverage and future growth efforts.

Katy Gettinger Eagen has been appointed as Vice President of Sales, Group Insurance & Financial Services at Preferred Hotels & Resorts

In her new role, Katy will lead the brand’s sales strategy in the insurance and financial markets, creating initiatives to enhance awareness of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and connect companies to unique, authentic experiences available at its 650 member hotels worldwide. Katy brings more than 22 years of hospitality experience to her new role with Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Most recently, she spent nearly 10 years serv ing as Global Account Director, Insurance & Financial for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, directing and leading the company’s strategy and sales initiatives in the Insurance and Financial segment for 1,300 hotels worldwide. During her tenure with Starwood, she also served on the pre-opening sales teams for the former Westin Diplomat, St. Regis Fort Lauderdale, and W South Beach.

Sara Malloy has been appointed as Director of Hotel Sales at The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection

Sara Malloy has been named Director of Hotel Sales at The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection. In this leadership position, Malloy will oversee all hotel sales initiatives for this historic, 581-room Washington, D.C. landmark, including designing and implementing strategies to drive group bookings and increase overall room nights and revenue.

Jenny Kurdle has been appointed as Senior VP, U.S. at BookingTek

BookingTek, a direct booking software provider for the hospitality industry, announced it appointed hospitality industry veteran Jenny Kurdle as its Senior Vice President (SVP), U.S. Kurdle will assume responsibility for BookingTek’s US operations and business development activities, and will be integral in leading the company’s growth in the United States. Based in BookingTek's Washington D.C. Metro Center office, Kurdle joins BookingTek having spent 25 years at MICROS Systems (now Oracle Hospitality), where she was Executive VP, U.S. & Canada. The appointment signals BookingTek's ambition to grow rapidly and aggressively in the United States over the coming years as more hotels launch direct booking solutions for their meetings, restaurants, and additional services and facilities. At MICROS Systems, a leading provider of enterprise applications for the hospitality and retail industries worldwide, Kurdle oversaw software, sales and service, and was responsible for $500 million of revenue. Leading a 2,000 strong workforce, Kurdle managed a portfolio of global Food & Beverage (F&B) and hotel clients and was instrumental in developing the strategy to drive business within multiple verticals including casinos, airports, stadiums and cruise ships. The appointment follows fast on the heels of the launch of BookingTek’s new TableRes product, which allows hotels and restaurant chains to launch direct booking on their own websites. This marks the company’s ambition to target growth globally across a number of verticals in the online booking space.

Geoff Ballotti has been named national chair at the U.S. Travel Association

The U.S. Travel Association on Monday announced Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO of Wyndham Hotel Group, as its new national chair. He was elected in a member-wide vote. Last week, Ballotti presided over his first Board of Directors meeting as national chair. Ballotti succeeds Travel Oregon CEO Todd Davidson.
