Anne-Marie Brooks has been appointed as General Manager at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort

Divi Resorts is thrilled to welcome back Anne-Marie Brooks as the new General Manager of Divi Little Bay Beach Resort on St. Maarten. Brooks joins the team in February, 28 years after her first internship at Divi Little Bay back in 1990. She replaces Celine Van Meer, who is now the General Manager at Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino on Bonaire.

John Vasatka has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer at Ani Villas

John Vasatka will take over as CEO this month for the Ani Villas’ collection of private resorts in Anguilla, Sri Lanka and Thailand, as well as a fourth property due to open later this month in the Dominican Republic. Vasatka has worked with upscale luxury hotels for nearly two decades, including 12 years as general manager at various Aman Resorts’ locations in the Caribbean, the Middle East, Sri Lanka and Thailand. His most recent position was as GM at the Malliouhana, an Auberge resort on Anguilla. He will continue to be based on the 35-square-mile British territory in the West Indies where Ani Villas first opened its doors in 2011.

Belmond acquires Cap Juluca, Anguilla

Belmond today announces that it has signed agreements to acquire Cap Juluca, a luxury beach resort on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, British West Indies. The addition of the elegant, 96-room resort marks an important milestone in the strategic development of the Belmond brand, which is committed to doubling the size of its portfolio by 2020. Upon completing the acquisition towards the end of May, the Company will immediately operate Belmond Cap Juluca and will be ready to welcome guests.

Peron Sepersaud has been appointed as Resident Manager at The Reef by CuisinArt

The Reef by CuisinArt, a brand-new contemporary beachfront oasis situated on Merrywing Bay on the island of Anguilla, announces Peron Sepersaud as Resident Manager. He specializes in launching new businesses as well as turning around under-performing properties to achieve increased sales and profits. Mr. Paias has a proven track record of success managing hotel projects and campaigns that enhance brand awareness and facilitate expansion into new markets. Prior to joining Zemi Beach House, Mr. Paias served as Managing Director of Asia for Trust Hospitality where he was responsible for operations and expansion in Asia for two five-star properties under construction in Singapore. Mr. Paias defined the marketing strategies, analyzed the properties’ market positioning, helped define the brand’s manifesto and hand-picked the hotels’ pre-opening Executive Teams. Before Asia, he acted as General Manager for numerous hotel properties in the UK, Portugal, Spain, and Morocco. Most recently he served as General Manager for The Pearl Marrakech and Adam Park Hotel & Spa in Morocco.

Prior to that Alvarez took a role as consulting chef for popular Anguilla hot spots Straw Hat and The Pumphouse. Before returning to the Caribbean, Alvarez held positions at New York restaurants Danny Meyers Café 2, Crispo Restaurant, The Polo at The Westbury and Aureole, where he worked with Michelin three-star Chef Charlie Palmer.

Jon Gersonde has been appointed as General Manager at Viceroy Anguilla

Viceroy Anguilla, the premier destination resort on the island of Anguilla, has appointed Jon Gersonde as general manager of the 166-room resort. An industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, Gersonde will manage resort operations, oversee strategic initiatives and develop new programming.Gersonde joins Viceroy Anguilla from Turnberry Isle Resort in Florida where he served as the managing director. Prior to his position in the southeast, Gersonde spent time in Hawaii as general manager at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and as vice president for the Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach Prince Resorts and Golf Clubs. He also has a number of years of experience working with Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt International in Hawaii, Guam, the Mariana Islands and the British Virgin Islands. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Hotel Management from Michigan State University.

Jasmine Welsh has been appointed as Director of Wellness at Zemi Beach House

Spa Director, Jasmine Welsh, will bring countless years of on-island spa experience to Zemi Beach House. Formerly the spa and fitness manager at Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort, Welsh's expertise is in western and eastern massage modalities, team training and development, product development, pre-opening protocols and hotel spa operations. Prior to her time at Malliouhana, she held the positions of spa manager and spa supervisor at Viceroy Resorts and Residences.

Markus Laahanen has been appointed as General Manager at Zemi Beach House

Armed with over fifteen years of international hotelier and restaurant experience, Markus Laahanen will step into the crucial role of general manager at Zemi Beach House. Multilingual and forward-thinking, Laahanen is experienced in Caribbean resort development and operations. He recently served as the general manager of Tropicalia Resort, a Cisneros Group development in the Dominican Republic, from May 2011-2015. Previous positions include principal and founder of Markus Laahanen Consulting; general manager of Six Senses in Jafre Spain; resident manager of Soneva Gili by Six Senses in the Maldives; development manager of Chedi Milan and Virtus Club at the Chedi Milan, GHM Hotels; and opening task force and F&B manager at The Setai in Miami's South Beach.

Tania Rydon has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort

Malliouhana, reopening as an Auberge Resort on November 1 after a three-year closure, ownership and management change, announces Tania Rydon as Director of Sales and Marketing. She will be responsible for leading marketing initiatives on property and managing the resort’s sales team. Rydon brings with her numerous years of experience working with luxury hospitality brands. Most recently, she served as pre-opening co-general manager of Amanresorts in Ammam, Jordan. Prior to that, she held the position of co-general manager at Amanyara in Turks and Caicos and Amanwella in Sri Lanka. In addition, Rydon has experience working with multiple Caribbean resorts, including Little Dix Bay, a Rosewood Resort in Virgin Gorda, B.V.I., Cap Juluca in Anguilla, Four Seasons Resort in Nevis, and Caneel Bay in St. John, U.S.V.I.
