InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®) has opened Holiday Inn® Cairns Harbourside on The Esplanade, offering beautiful ocean and city views. Previously operating as Mercure Cairns Harbourside, the hotel has opened its doors as the eleventh Holiday Inn hotel in Australia.
The $100 million venture, spanning fifty acres including two kilometres of absolute beachfront on Byron’s prized Belongil Beach, opens February 2016.

He continued to develop within Hyatt, with further roles in the Philippines, Australia and Singapore and then was appointed Resident Manager at Grand Hyatt Taipei in 1999. In 2000, Ed joined Shangri-La at the Island hotel in Hong Kong. During his tenure at Shangri-La, he held key leadership roles from Canada to Singapore, from Australia to Malaysia and most recently, Thailand. Mr. Brea also introduced new resort brands within Shangri-La, including the flagship hotel Jing-An and the Kerry Hotel Pudong, both in Shanghai, China as well as Traders in Malaysia. Ed has also led teams overseeing key projects, re-brandings and pre-openings.
