Janelle brings a wealth of travel experience to the role, having worked for Tourism New Zealand, in both New Zealand and London, and more recently as Communications Manager for Australian hotel group, TFE Hotels. Prior to this, Janelle worked agency-side with clients such as Air New Zealand, Expedia and the Northern Territory, as well as for the Department of Families and Community Services promoting the 2015 NSW Women of the Year Awards.

Ryan Newton has been appointed as General Manager at Mantra Legends Hotel

Ryan Newton has been appointed as General Manager, Mantra Legends Hotel, Surfers Paradise. Ryan has over seven years’ experience with the Group having held positions at Mantra Mooloolaba Beach, Mantra PortSea and Peppers Beach Club &Spa. Given his experience in banquet management, Ryan will bring a wealth of knowledge to this iconic property, popular with conferences and group bookings.

Matt Young has been appointed as Regional General Manager, Queensland and Northern Territory at Accor

Matt’s previous role with Accor was Vice President Operations Western Australia and General Manager Mercure Perth and is currently the brand operations champion for Ibis Styles. Matt has an extensive career in the hospitality industry having held several senior operational leadership roles with IHG and Rydges.Matt replaces Chris Sedgwick who moves on to a position as Senior Vice President Operations, New Zealand, Fiji and Polynesia, based in New Zealand.

Jeshly Sierra has been appointed as Area Director of Sales at Oaks Hotels & Resorts

Leading accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts, a division of Minor Hotel Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Jeshly Sierra as Area Director of Sales for New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Ms Sierra will now fill this role and joins Oaks Hotels & Resorts after a 10-year post in London working in various global sales offices for Accor, Morgans Hotel Group and French hotel group Concorde Hotels & Resorts, before recently moving back to Australia and assuming the position of Head of Corporate Sales for Doltone House’s five-star venue collection.

Ben Pilkington has been appointed as Area Director of Sales for Queensland at Oaks Hotels & Resorts

Mr Pilkington will assume the role of Area Director of Sales for Queensland, effective immediately, which will see him oversee key Australian and international accounts and direct the company’s sales initiatives, after previously serving in the same role for New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

Rex Demanser has been appointed as Head Commercial Officer at Oaks Hotels & Resorts

Based at Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ Sunshine Coast head office, Mr Demanser brings more than 25 years experience in the hospitality industry to the role and joins Oaks Hotels & Resorts after a notable tenure in Bangkok with parent company Minor Hotel Group as a special projects consultant, where his key responsibilities included re-launching the Global Hotel Alliance loyalty program, establishing central reservations, and supporting revenue management and Opera Central Systems. Prior to his post in Thailand, he served as Vice President of Distribution & Revenue Management for Kempinski Hotels in Switzerland. Mr Demanser will play a key role in leading Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ growth in Australia and overseas as the company continues to expand its property portfolio, which currently incorporates 51 hotels and resorts in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.

Alexis Hvalgaard has been appointed as General Manager at Mercure Broome

Alexis Hvalgaard has been appointed General Manager, Mercure Broome commencing on 18th May 2015. Alexis commenced with Accor in September 2002 at the Novotel Vines Resort and Country Club in various operational roles. Alexis then moved to the Ibis Budget Perth as Manager and in 2006 relocated to Rothbury, working in Rooms Division at the Grand Mercure Apartments. In October 2006, Alexis joined the Mercure Sydney and held various Front Office Management roles. Alexis then returned to Western Australia as Front Office Manager at the Mercure Perth in September 2008. Alexis’s most recent role was as Hotel Manager, Mercure Perth.

Guy Marinucci has been appointed as General Manager at Mercure Treasury Gardens

Guy Marinucci has been appointed General Manager, Mercure Treasury Gardens. Guy commenced his career with Accor in February 1999 as Food and Beverage Manager and was soon promoted to the role of Executive Assistant Manager based at the Novotel Brighton Beach. In April 2001, Guy was promoted to General Manager at the Novotel Atrium Darwin and in September 2004 transferred to the role of General Manager at The Crossley Hotel, managed by Mercure. In September 2007, Guy was appointed to his most recent role as General Manager at the Hotel Ibis Glen Waverley.

Glen Erickson has been appointed as General Manager at Ibis Glen Waverley

Glen Erickson has been appointed General Manager, Ibis Glen Waverley. Glen commenced with Accor in 2002 at the Novotel Glen Waverley and was part of the Graduate Management Trainee program in 2006. In 2008, Glen held the position of Hotel Manager at the Grand Mercure Apartments Twin Waters, then Hotel Manager at the Ibis Brisbane. In May 2013, Glen was appointed to the role of General Manager at the Ibis Perth, before relocating to Sydney for his most recent role as General Manager at the Pullman Sydney Olympic Park in February 2014.

Karen Taylor has been appointed as General Manager at the Como Melbourne

Karen Taylor has been appointed General Manager, the Como Melbourne, a member of Accor’s MGallery Collection. Karen commenced her career with Accor in September 1991 at the Novotel St Kilda and has worked in various management positions in both Australia and New Zealand and was appointed to the role of General Manager at the Mercure Melbourne in November 1999. In 2008, Karen moved to the role of General Manager, Novotel Glen Waverly before relocating to the Mercure and Ibis hotels in Brisbane. Karen was appointed to her most recent role as General Manager at the Mercure Treasury Gardens in July 2012.
