Joseph Sampermans has been appointed as General Manager at The Peninsula Beijing

The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (00045) (HSH), owner and operator of the Peninsula Hotels, announced the retirement of Mr. Donald J. Harrington, General Manager of The Peninsula Beijing, who will be replaced by Mr. Joseph Sampermans, currently Hotel Manager of The Peninsula Hong Kong. Mr. Sampermans will assume his new role on 15 October 2012.Mr. Sampermans joined the Company in 2004 as Director of Food Beverage at The Peninsula Bangkok. In 2007, he was promoted to be the pre-opening Executive Assistant Manager, Food Beverage for The Peninsula Tokyo and a year later, he was promoted again to be the Resident Manager. In mid 2010, he was transferred to Hong Kong to become Hotel Manager of The Peninsula Hong Kong, HSH’s flagship hotel property. Aged 42, Mr. Sampermans is a Dutch national and a graduate of the Limburg Zuyd in The Netherlands with a Bachelor degree in Finance. His career path has taken him to Thailand, Germany and Cambodia.

Florian has over 20 years’ extensive experience in multi international & Asia-Pacific regional hotel groups, premier business & upscale deluxe brands in world’s leading destinations: Berlin, New York, Singapore, Bangkok and Shanghai. Prior to joining IHG, he was the General Manager & Group Director of Projects with Regal International and Regal Plaza Hotel & Residence of Pudong Shanghai where he successfully completed the preopening and did run its operation and businesses. In his leisure time, Florian likes to spend his spare time on weekends and holidays with his wife/friends/family and is a passionate golfer, like tennis and international travel. With his engaged management style, Florian Heiner will continue to drive excellence to owner and IHG at Crowne Plaza Jinan City Centre.

Marc C Brugger has been appointed as General Manager at Rosewood Beijing

Marc C. Brugger has been appointed managing director of Rosewood Beijing, scheduled to open Summer 2013 as the first China hotel for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Mr. Brugger brings 20 years luxury hotel experience to his new role. Rosewood Beijing will be located in the central business Chaoyang District, opposite the iconic CCTV Tower. The company plans to add 10 properties in Asia within five years. Most recently, Mr. Brugger was general manager of Crown Towers Hotel and Casino Macau. Other positions he has held in the destination’s upper echelon properties included vice president VIP gaming services for City of Dreams Casino Macau and vice president hotel and F&B for Altira Hotel & Casino Macau. Previously, Mr. Brugger was director of food and beverage for Four Seasons Hotel Dublin, the largest food and beverage operations of Four Seasons in Europe. His former nine years with Hyatt International included food and beverage management positions at Park Hyatt Goa and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, with additional postings in Mexico and Malaysia.
