Mohamed El Keiy has been appointed as Director of Sales at Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Keiy started with Four Seasons in December 2006 as Sales Manager at the Resort, where he handled groups in the Middle East and Gulf markets and played an instrumental part in building relationships with ambassadors and travel agencies. He was twice recognized by the company's Presidents Club, in 2007 and 2008. In 2011, he was promoted to Regional Senior Sales Manager for the European team for all four Four Seasons properties in Egypt.

The deadly protests and political turbulence that have swept Egypt in recent months are keeping Western tourists away from the resorts, beaches and famous scuba diving waters across the southern Sinai Peninsula. "This summer is by far the worst I have seen,” said Mohamed Ismail Abdullah, who has worked as a tour guide here for 14 years. “Hotel occupancy at this time of the year usually ranges between 70% to 80%. Now we have no more than 50%, and that's only because of the Eid holidays [this month] that brought many Egyptians and tourists from the Arab Gulf countries."

Cairo Sharm El Sheikh Before and After

Egypt has endured dramatic political turmoil and instability over the course of the last two years. Beginning in January 2011, the Egyptian Revolution began as a campaign of non-violent civil resistance, which despite its non-violent nature, resulted in 846 dead and 6,000 injured. On the 11th February, 2011, after persistent protest and pressure, history marked the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak and resulted in administrative and legislative control of the country being surrendered to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. As a result of the turbulent episode between 2011 and 2012, the hospitality sector endured the backlash and the repercussions of the infamously entitled Arab Spring, with the hotel sector being among the hardest hit both locally and regionally. Andreas Haugg has been appointed as Executive Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza

Having spent years travelling around Europe, perfecting his skills and learning from master craftsmen such as Johann Lafer (Germany) and Anton Mosimann (UK), Haugg took his first position as executive chef at a hotel in New England, USA, in 1998. It was while there, in Boston, that he first encountered Four Seasons. He started his with the former Four Seasons Hotel Berlin, then he moved to Four Seasons Hotel London. Andreas crossed continents to Four Seasons Resorts Maldives at both Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giravaru, and then took a position at Four Seasons Resort Mauritius before coming to Cairo.
