Guy Bertaud has been appointed as General Manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris

With twenty-five years dedicated to luxury hotels, Guy Bertaud brings an international experience and an undeniable sense of service. A graduate in management and tourism, Bertaud began his career in the hotel industry in 1988 at Le Meridien London. He then joined the InterContinental Paris catering business in 1992, where he spent 4 years before heading to the Middle East for Le Royal Meridien Bahrain. Bertaud returned to Paris in 1999 at the Hotel Prince de Galles as Director of Catering before joining the teams of the prestigious Hotel Plaza Athénée in 2004 where he practices Function of Deputy Director. This is followed by new experiences abroad, in Lebanon, Monaco and the United Arab Emirates. Guy Bertaud is once again called to be the General Manager of the InterContinental Bordeaux - Le Grand Hotel in 2016.

Jean-Luc Cousty has been appointed as General Manager at Hotel Lutetia

The hotel group The Set Hotels, owner of the Hôtel Lutetia in Paris, has appointed Jean-Luc Cousty to the general management of the emblematic institution of Paris Rive Gauche, which reopenes soon after major renovation work . Jean-Luc Cousty began his career at the Concorde Hotels at the age of 21, and quickly joined the Hôtel Lutetia as Administrative Director. Although he makes a few successful professional sidesteps to other prestigious hotels, his footsteps always brought him back to the Lutetia where, in the mid-90s, he occupied for 3 years the position of Director Of Operations, in charge of Restoration. In 2008, he returned to the position of General Manager where he orchestrated the celebrations of the centenary of the hotel and the preparation of the renovation works which began in 2014. Last March, Cousty ended his mission as General Manager of the Hotel du Palais in Biarritz, the only Palace on the Atlantic Coast. Managing Director since the closure of the Lutetia, in particular, it has ensured the renewal of the Palace label in 2016 and set up a new commercial policy allowing to carry out, with its teams, two years of historical activities. At the age of 54, he returns to his first loves, Hotel Lutetia.

French Travelers Will Travel More This Summer

At the beginning of the summer season, tourism professionals have noticed a sharp rise in the amount of vacations booked by French travelers. This is a recovery that mainly benefits the foreign destinations.

According to tour operators and other tourism stakeholders, the number of French travelers leaving for summer vacation will be bigger than last year and they will be traveling more abroad, mainly to Southern Europe and Maghreb. “There has been a sharp rise in the number of vacations among French tourists this summer. It is very clear and very significant since we have not seen this level of intention since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008,” Jean-Pierre Mas said; Jean-Pierre Mas is President of “Entreprises du Voyage”, a professional federation which monitors the reservations made with 850 French travel agencies.

Francois Arrighi has been named General Manager of the new Four Seasons Hotel Megève. Opening in time for the 2017/18 ski season, the all-new hotel will be the company’s third in France, and its fifth mountain destination. Arrighi arrives in Megève from Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, where as Hotel Manager he was responsible for day-to-day operations and was also closely involved in the wildly successful launch of two new Michelin-starred restaurants.
