Six Steigenberger Hotels win a “101 Best Hotels in Germany” Award

The “101 Best Hotels in Germany” Awards, the only ranking list of its kind to combine objective quality benchmarks with individual customer satisfaction perceptions, have just been published for the second time. Six Steigenberger Hotels are confirmed as being amongst the leading lights of the German hotel sector. In the individual “Grand Hotel” category, the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and the Steigenberger Parkhotel Düsseldorf were placed sixth and ninth respectively.

German Hotel Investment Market - Q3 2021 Update

In the first three quarters of 2021, approximately EUR 1.48 billion was invested in hotel properties in Germany. Compared to the same period last year (Q1-Q3 2020: EUR 1.70 billion), this represents a decline of about 13 percent. The reason for this, according to the internationally active real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), is the extremely strong Q1 2020 (Q1 2020: EUR 1 billion), which was not yet affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Transaction activity was relatively even at around EUR 500 million per quarter. Portfolio transactions were the exception: out of 44 transactions, only three were concluded as portfolio deals. Individual property deals accounted for approximately 87 percent of transaction volume. The average transaction size was around EUR 34 million.

Hilton Continues German Expansion with Major Conversion in Invesco’s Heidelberg hotel

Ahead of this year's International Hotel Investment Conference (IHIF), Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed a franchise agreement to open Hilton Heidelberg, a 244-room upscale hotel in Heidelberg's city centre. The property will undergo a major refurbishment before welcoming guests in Summer 2022. The hotel is owned by Invesco Real Estate, the global real estate investment manager which acquired the property in 2017.

IntercityHotel To Open In Lübeck In 2023

Lübeck, known as the "City of Seven Spires" for the Gothic churches that punctuate its skyline, is set to become home to an IntercityHotel by 2023. The new build hotel will extend over six storeys and will include 176 rooms, a spacious lobby, a restaurant, a bar and various conference facilities. As is the case with all new generation IntercityHotels, interior design will be by the Italian architect Matteo Thun. The project is being realised as part of the existing cooperation agreement between Deutsche Hospitality and the "Commerz Real Institutional European Hotel Fund", via which Commerz Real, a property subsidiary of Commerzbank, has acquired the future hotel from the developer GBI.
