trivago's current headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany are getting a bit tight, to say the least. With 222% growth since 2012, the multinational team of 950 needs room to grow, which is why trivago has commissioned a new state-of-the- art campus it plans to relocate to in 2018.
The InterCityHotel Braunschweig recently celebrated its topping-out ceremony. Located within the direct vicinity of the main railway station and the BraWoPark, a shopping and business centre which opened in November last year, the hotel will offer 174 rooms, a conference area, a bistro and a bar. Interior architecture is by the star Italian designer Matteo Thun, a multi-award winning artist who studied under Oskar Kokoschka before going on to hold a professorship at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Pandox's acquisition of 18 hotel properties in Germany, which was communicated 5 December 2015, has been completed. The acquisition strengthens Pandox's position on the important German market. Final acquisition price amounts to MEUR 400 MEUR, corresponding to approximately MSEK 3,654 on a debt free basis including minority interest.
Franco Esposito is the new General Manager of the 5-star-superior Hotel Atlantic Kempinski Hamburg. He succeeds Peter Pusnik who after seven years at the helm has left to focus on new challenges. As a general manager and also while in other senior positions, Esposito has already worked for many globally successful companies such as Marriott, Sheraton, Oberoi and Kempinski. Prior to this appointment the father-of-two was a successful businessman offering strategic advice to national and international hotel projects. Today the German competition authority, the Bundeskartellamt (BKartA) issued a prohibition decision against Booking.com, an operating business of The Priceline Group [NASDAQ: PCLN], in respect of its narrow MFN clauses in its agreements with accommodation partners in Germany. Dieter Müller, CEO Motel One, will be awarded the prestigious accolade during the 19th International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) in Berlin next March. Müller trained as a trade clerk at BMW before joining Accor in 1975. By 1980 he was CFO for the German, Austrian and Swiss markets at Accor and then CEO of Accor Gastronomie AG in Dusseldorf. Following his role with Accor, he set up Astron hotels growing an initial portfolio of three properties to 54 hotels. Astron Hotels was bought by NH Hotels in 2002.
