Juergen Doerr has been appointed as General Manager at Island Shangri-La

Mr Juergen Doerr has been appointed as the General Manager of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, while continuing his role as Vice-President, Operations (Hong Kong & Taiwan), effective 1 August 2020. Mr Doerr has been with the group for over 21 years, previously holding the title of General Manager at Kowloon Shangri-La. In his new capacity, Mr Doerr will oversee the daily operation of Island Shangri-La, including an extensive asset enhancement of the Club floors, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the hotel, due to launch at the end of 2020.

The hotel will reopen in Q3 2021 as Marco Polo Prince Hotel, and reflect the new contemporary elements that will enhance this well-known regional brand.

A seasoned Marriott International veteran of nineteen years, Bart Buiring will transition from hisprevious position as Chief Operations Services Officer, Asia Pacific and will oversee the AsiaPacific consumer strategy to Marriott International's core hotel business and brands—poweredby world-class technology. This includes Brand Management, Marketing, Sales & Distribution,Revenue Management, Loyalty, Customer Experience, Digital and Communications. Under hisleadership, Bart will continue building the Asia Pacific customer base, adapting MarriottInternational's brands and travel program, Marriott Bonvoy, to the local market, while alsoleading the sales organization and driving Marriott International's Asia Pacific distribution andpricing strategy.
