Michael Monks has been appointed as General Manager at Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Sunway Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality division of Malaysian-based property-construction conglomerate Sunway Group, has announced the appointment of Michael Monks as General Manager for Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Drawing on over 35 years of hospitality industry experience, Michael is responsible for the overall operations and business growth at Sunway’s 650-room hotel, strategically located opposite Kuala Lumpur’s Putra World Trade Centre (PTWC).

CitizenM Hotel To Open In Kuala Lumpur In 2018

It was confirmed today that Kuala Lumpur will be the location of Asia's third citizenM hotel, as part of Artyzen Hospitality Group's plans to transform the hospitality experience for modern travellers. Scheduled for completion in Q2 2018, the citizenM Kuala Lumpur opening 2 will follow the inaugural citizenM in Asia, opening in Taipei Northgate in Q2 this year, and citizenM Shanghai Hongqiao, set to open in Q1 2018.

Michelle Caporicci has been appointed as Managing Director at The St. Regis Langkawi, The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa, as well as The Langkawi International Convention Centre

Caporicci will lead strategic direction and overseeing the growth of The St. Regis Langkawi, The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa, as well as The Langkawi International Convention Centre. In her most recent tenure as regional vice president, sales and marketing for The Ritz Carlton, Asia-Pacific, Caporicci oversaw 26 hotels in eight countries and opened nine hotels including The Ritz- Carlton, Kyoto and Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. With over 20 years of experience in various high profile positions, Caporicci began her career in 1995 as a catering manager for Long Beach Marriott Hotel and climbed through the ranks holding various roles in hotels across the US and Asia-Pacific.

Thomas Gassner has been appointed general manager for Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, which is scheduled to open in mid-2017. Prior to his new role, Gassner was the hotel manager of Pullman Jakarta Indonesia and Pullman Bali Legian Nirwana. A German native, Gassner has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He joined AccorHotels in 2004 as F&B manager at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost and has held various senior management positions within the group.

Prakash Kumaran has been appointed as General Manager at Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya

Prakash Kumaran also brings over 25 years of hospitality experience to Sunway Hotels & Resorts. The Malaysian national joins as General Manager of Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya in Penang, Malaysia from his most recent role as the Cluster Pre-Opening General Manager for the 1,001-room NH Haikou Meilan International Hotel and the 334-room NH Sanya Phoenix International Hotel in Sanya, China; a joint venture project between NH Hotels together with the Hainan-based HNA Group’s subsidiary company, HNA Hospitality. Prakash also served as General Manager in a number of Tangla Hotels & Resorts and HNA Hotels & Resorts properties in China. Before China, Prakash held various rooms division management roles with numerous global hotel brands in Malaysia, Singapore and the United States.

Zayne Boon has been appointed as General Manager at Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre

Bringing with him a sterling career spanning over 20 years, Boon is no stranger to the hospitality industry. He received his education in Tasmania, Australia, and graduated from the University of Tasmania, with a degree in Computer Science. Having dabbled in the hotel industry at a young age, Boon was noted for his results-driven approach and was appointed as a General Manager by the age of 25. He then spent some 20 years accumulating experience in hotels around Australia before beginning his adventure with the AccorHotels group.
