Best Western® Hotels & Resorts Opens Spectacular Upscale Hotel in Malaysia’s Genting Highlands

Best Western Hotels & Resorts has unveiled a stunning new upscale hotel in Malaysia's popular and scenic Genting Highlands. The brand new Best Western Premier Ion Delemen opened on April 26, 2017 and is nestled in the lush jungle-clad hills of Pahang state, the center of the Malay Peninsula. In addition to providing the perfect natural retreat for both Malaysian and international visitors, the new hotel is on the doorstep of Genting's Resorts World, which features a large theme park, casino and Malaysia's longest cable car ride. The world's first 20th Century Fox World theme park is also a nearby attraction and is scheduled to welcome visitors later this year.

Yusuf Yaran has been appointed as Director of Food and Beverage at the Shangri-Las Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa in Kota Kinabolu - Malaysia. He was most recently the Executive Chef in the same property. Yaran had previously held similar positions at Shangri-La Jakarta, Pudong Shangri-La Shanghai and Makati Shangri-La Manila. At Kota Kinabolu, he replaces Michael Wang who joined the Shangri-La Nanjing in China.

CitizenM Hotel To Open In Kuala Lumpur In 2018

It was confirmed today that Kuala Lumpur will be the location of Asia's third citizenM hotel, as part of Artyzen Hospitality Group's plans to transform the hospitality experience for modern travellers. Scheduled for completion in Q2 2018, the citizenM Kuala Lumpur opening 2 will follow the inaugural citizenM in Asia, opening in Taipei Northgate in Q2 this year, and citizenM Shanghai Hongqiao, set to open in Q1 2018.

In her most recent tenure as regional vice president, sales and marketing for The Ritz Carlton, Asia-Pacific, Caporicci oversaw 26 hotels in eight countries and opened nine hotels including The Ritz- Carlton, Kyoto and Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. With over 20 years of experience in various high profile positions, Caporicci began her career in 1995 as a catering manager for Long Beach Marriott Hotel and climbed through the ranks holding various roles in hotels across the US and Asia-Pacific.

Thomas Gassner has been appointed general manager for Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, which is scheduled to open in mid-2017. Prior to his new role, Gassner was the hotel manager of Pullman Jakarta Indonesia and Pullman Bali Legian Nirwana. A German native, Gassner has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He joined AccorHotels in 2004 as F&B manager at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost and has held various senior management positions within the group.
