Jean-Marc Michel has been named General Manager at Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort - Kota Kinabalu

Mr Michel has more than 30 years of experience in the hotel industry, having working in international assignments that gave him a wide exposure and the opportunity to adapt to a multi-cultural environment across various remote destinations. “It is an exciting time to be joining the Rasa Ria team, and the opportunity to work and live in such an exotic tropical setting,” said Mr Michel. “My special focus will be the resort’s expansion of guest facilities, including the renovation of spa treatment rooms, building of a new specialty restaurant and the addition of 83 Premier Rooms to Ocean Wing, making this a 499-room resort by end of 1st quarter 2015.” A Swiss national, Mr Michel is fluent in English, French and German, with knowledge of Italian, Portuguese. Prior to this appointment, he served as general manager at Kempinski Seychelles Resort, Le Mirador Kempinski Lake Geneva and Constance Ephelia Resort Seychelles. Mr Michel previously spent several years in senior positions at One&Only Le Saint Geran Mauritius, Reid’s Palace Madeira, an Orient-Express property, as well as a number of luxury properties in the West Indies, Malta, France and Switzerland. He began his career from a culinary apprenticeship in Switzerland and later graduated from Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne.

Tee Kay has been with the 287-unit PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur since its pre-opening in 2010, starting out as Director of Sales before being promoted to Resident Manager last year. Now as Acting General Manager, Tee Kay will continue to lead the formulation and implementation of strategies to deliver product and service excellence, so as to enhance the property’s reputation as a leading accommodation of choice in the heart of the Golden Triangle, Kuala Lumpur’s prime commercial, shopping and entertainment district. A sales & marketing veteran, Tee Kay had previously worked with Doubletree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, Pangkor Island Beach Resort and Lanson Place Ambassador Row Kuala Lumpur.

Colin Yeoh has been appointed as Resident manager at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

olin Yeoh returns to Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa as Resident Manager. Colin is no stranger to the 1,234-room Hotel as he was the Operations Manager in charge of Food & Beverage between May 2006 and June 2008. Since moving on from Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa in 2008, Colin has served with Nikko Hotel in Tianjin, Shangri-La Hotel in Xian, Inter-Continental Hotel in Hangzhou and Raffles in Hainan in various capacity; his last position being Resident Manager at Raffles' bespoke property in Hainan, China. Although a Malaysian, Colin received his early education in Singapore and graduated in Hotel Management from the Hotel Institute in Montreux, Switzerland in 1992.

Taro Tan has been appointed as Hotel Manager at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

Taro Tan joins the 5-star Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa as Hotel Manager. Taro started his career in hospitality with Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore in 1989 and since leaving the Company from his last position as Director of Rooms in 1999, has served as General Manager with Ascott International and Fraser's Hospitality in Singapore, Bangkok and Seoul. Most recently, Taro relocated from Bangkok where he last served in a dual capacity as Hotel Manager of Lancaster Bangkok and Area Director of Rooms of Landmark Lancaster Hotel Group, Thailand. Taro was a Shangri-La, as well as a SHATEC (Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre) scholar at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and graduated with a BSc degree in Hotel & Restaurant Administration from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA. Taro is a national of Singapore, with permanent residencies in both United States and Thailand.

Amarinder Sadana has been appointed as Director of Business Development at DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru

Having worked in Malaysia since 2012, Sadana draws from more than 11 years of international Hospitality experience across hotel operations, revenue management and sales in notable companies, including Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Lemontree Hotels & Resorts and The Carlson Group of Hotels. As Director of Business Development at Doubletree by Hilton, he is responsible for building the DoubleTree by Hilton marque through the brand’s latest venture into Johor Bahru, Malaysia, while ensuring guests’ experience are at the utmost levels. He is also tasked with forging and maintaining effective partnerships between the brand and entities in and around Johor Bahru, such as Legoland and Iskandar Malaysia.

Freddie Coleman has been appointed as Director of Operations at DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru

Originating from Sabah, Coleman carries with him more than 20 years of hotel management experience under his belt. He was the Director of Operations and Director of Food & Beverage at Thistle Johor Bahru prior to his appointment at DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru, where he is tasked with leading and strategizing various operational activities and will also focus on new business development opportunities. “This is a great opportunity for me to helm the Operations team and will strive to achieve the highest possible guest satisfaction and brand image,” said Freddie, who holds Master Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management in 2012 from Gibaran Graduate School of Business in Australia.
