Brendan Corcoran has been appointed as General Manager at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort

Marriott International has appointed Brendan Corcoran as general manager of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, representing the debut of Westin Hotels and Resorts in the Republic of Maldives.His industry experience spans over 20 years in a variety of leadership positions. A graduate of the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Ireland, Brendan embarked on his professional journey at the Hilton Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.From there, Corcoran's passion for embracing new opportunities and experiences saw him take up positions with some of the world's leading hospitality brands, including Marriott International, InterContinental Hotels Group and Per Aquum Hotels and Resorts.Prior to his appointment at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, he was general manager at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, Baa Atoll, Maldives.He incorporates the skills acquired at the Harvard Business School in the United States to strategically deliver creative and practical solutions to problems in a fast-paced guest environment, spearhead the commercial and operational success of the property, and ensure the resort provides consistently exceptional guest experiences.

Raffles Resort in Maldives to Open 01 February 2019

AccorHotels has confirmed the 38-villa Raffles resort in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll of Maldives will open on 01 February 2019. Raffles Maldives Meradhoo is located at the southern end of the Maldives archipelago, near the equator on the Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The resort is accessible by domestic flight, 55 minutes from Male International Airport followed by 15-minute speedboat ride from Kaadedhdhoo Airport.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has appointed Michael Melzer as the General Manager of Mӧvenpick Resort Kuredhivaru Maldives, the stunning new sustainably designed island resort which is scheduled to open its doors in November 2018. A German national, Michael has more than 35 years' experience in the hospitality industry, many of which have been spent in the Asia Pacific region. He also has qualifications from Cornell University and Dale Carnegie Hong Kong, and he has worked for some of the industry's most famous brands over the course of almost four decades in the hospitality industry. Most recently he was GM of the Sunrise Nha Trang Beach Hotel & Spa, a luxury sea-facing property in Vietnam.Mövenpick has deep roots in the food and beverage industry, and this heritage aligns perfectly with Michael's own passion for the culinary arts. Having started his career as a chef in Germany, he became a Food & Beverage specialist at several hotels. Subsequent roles included Director of Event Management, Hotel Operations Manager and Director of Operations, reporting directly to General Managers and owners. This gave Michael a comprehensive view of hotel operations prior to becoming a General Manager in 2010. Since this time he has successfully managed properties in the Maldives, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Graeme will be in charge of the resort's overall operations, ensuring that guests continue to receive exceptional and out-of-the-ordinary experiences.Bringing more than 14 years of executive experience to the role, Graeme gained his proficiency in the high-end hospitality and real estate sectors across Asia. He joins Six Senses Laamu following his previous position as general manager at the award-winning Aleenta Hua Hin Resort & Spa in Pranburi, Thailand, prior to an extensive career with the Karma Group based in Bali, Indonesia.Beginning his hospitality career as marketing manager with Karma Group, Graeme's focus was on promoting the portfolio of properties in Indonesia and Thailand. A move into operations followed and after successful tenures as operations manager and resort manager, Graeme was appointed general manager at Karma Jimbaran, Jimbaran Bay, Bali in 2013. His travels have taken him to five continents and his education included exposure to business and law in addition to holding a diploma from Cornell University.Originally from Scotland, Graeme is an avid football fan and keen soccer player. In his free time he enjoys traveling and exploring new lands and cultures while in this new appointment he is also looking forward to taking on diving to explore Six Senses Laamu's rich underwater marine life.
