Just like all good recipes start with an origin and ingredients at its base, Javier Garcia Cerrillo's own started at home. Both his mother and grandmother were exceptional cooks and encouraged him to follow his dream which led him to the Culinary Institute of Xalapa at the age of 13. Having traveled and lived in many countries including Argentina, Tierra de Fuego, Finland, Greece and spending five years at a Michelin starred restaurant in Spain, Cerrillo's culinary influence spans the globe. After studying cuisine and gastronomy at Anáhuac Cancún University, he worked at various restaurants and properties throughout Quintana Roo as well as in Puebla and Guadalajara.

Susan Williams has been appointed as Director of Sales, Events and Marketing at Thompson Zihuatanejo

Based in Southern California, the new Director of Sales, Events and Marketing, Susan Williams, will oversee a variety of aspects at Thompson Zihuatanejo, including sales and brand strategy, advertising and marketing channels, event operations and staff as well as travel agency relations, website content, and more. Williams began her career in sales with Hyatt in Louisville, KY and has worked in several markets ever since.

Eduardo Garcia Ramirez has been appointed as Food & Beverage Manager at Royal Uno® All Inclusive Resort & Spa

Eduardo Garcia Ramirez brings over 15 years of experience working in restaurant management, tourism, and sales. Originally from the Mexican state of Michoacán, he held roles at leading hospitality brands in Mexico including Secrets and Dreams in Playa Mujeres, Live Aqua Boutique in Playa del Carmen, among others. Prior to joining Royal Uno, he was Food & Beverage Director at Zoëtry Agua in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Ramirez's wide experience of working in luxury all-inclusive resorts, managing specialty restaurants and buffet-style eateries, creating theme night dining concepts, and catering for weddings and events makes him a great asset in his new role as he leads Royal Uno's food and beverage team.

Leonardo Daniel Trujillo Gómez has been appointed as Executive Chef at Royal Uno® All Inclusive Resort & Spa

Originally from the Mexican state of Chiapas, Trujillo has more than 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry-leading international luxury all-inclusive resort brands in the Riviera Maya, Cancun, and Playa Mujeres including Secrets and Dreams, Excellence, Azul Fives by Karisma, and the Four Diamond Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Vallarta. Leonardo began as a Chef de Partie, rising to Executive Sous-Chef and then Executive Chef. Most recently, Trujillo lent his talent as the Executive Chef at Dreams Sands Cancun where he was responsible for seven specialty restaurants. Some of his culinary specialties include Italian, Asian, Brazilian, International, and Mediterranean dishes, and he is passionate about traditional Mexican cuisine. Leonardo has incredible attention to service and details that drive innovation and creativity with a focus on specialty and buffet restaurants, theme nights, and weddings.

Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, a luxury resort located in a private complex along the sparkling Caribbean coastline and surrounded by nature in Riviera Maya, Mexico, is pleased to announce the appointment of Pedro Soares as its Food & Beverage Manager. In his new role, Soraes will lead the food and beverage team at the resort and oversee its five onsite eateries, all dedicated to integrating fresh ingredients and products of the eastern Mexico region into the menus. Restaurants at the resort include signature restaurant Casa Amate, serving diverse Latin American cuisine in an eclectic, residential-style setting; Sotavento, known for fresh seafood and daily chef specials available for feet-in-the-sand dining; VB serving creative plant-based dishes; poolside pavilion restaurant Cocina Milagro, with an open-concept kitchen; and casual beachfront restaurant Tinta del Pulpo.
