Starwood Accelerates Growth in Latin America with the Signing of Two Aloft Hotels in Mexico

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.® (NYSE:HOT) today announced from the Hotel Opportunities Latin America (HOLA) Conference that its innovative Aloft brand will soon debut in Veracruz, the main commercial seaport in Mexico, and Queretaro, one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. The hotels are exciting additions to the brand's existing portfolio in the region, which includes Aloft Bogota Airport in Colombia, Aloft San Jose in Costa Rica, Aloft Panama, Aloft Cancun and Aloft Guadalajara in Mexico; and the recently opened Aloft Asuncion in Paraguay. Aloft is Starwood's fastest-growing brand in Latin America with a robust pipeline of seven hotels in different stages of development in three countries.

Eduardo Vela Ruiz, founder and president of Mexico's "Beyond All Inclusive, Beyond All Compare" Velas Resorts, announces Luz (Lucy) del Carmen Ruiz Rodriguez will take over as Managing Director of the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. She replaces Ignacio Mendoza Valenzuela who will act as opening Managing Director of Grand Velas Los Cabos. Opening in late 2016, Grand Velas Los Cabos ups the ante for the Grand Velas product with special wine features, commitment to the arts, dramatic ocean views, hard to top wellness suites and more. The appointments are effective May 1.
