Roger Brantsma has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton Auckland and Hilton Lake Taupo

Originally from The Netherlands, Roger has been traveling, working and living in several countries of completely different cultures since 2002. His hotel career started in food & beverage at Hilton Amsterdam before his international journey kicked off with Hilton Dubai Jumeirah in Middle East and continued with Hilton Sharks Bay Resort in Egypt, as director of operations in 2005. South East Asia was on Roger’s map with Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa in Thailand before his excellent leadership skills were rewarded in 2009 with the appointment as director of operations for the area’s flagship hotel, Hilton Sydney. In 2011 Roger was promoted to the role of general manager for the new Hilton Chennai in India. In just over a year Roger positioned the hotel and achieved excellent market penetration scores, as well as led the hotel team to several award wins, including “Best Debutant Hotel” at the Audi Ritz Icon Awards.

Vincent Macquet has been named General Manager at Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa

The award-winning Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa has welcomed a new General Manager, Vincent Macquet. The news follows the recent relocation of former hotel General Manager Wouter de Graaf to New Zealand’s North Island where he is now General Manager of the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour, in addition to his new role as Area General Manager for Sofitel Luxury Hotels - New Zealand.

Dilan De Silva has been appointed as General Manager at Terrace Downs Resort

Terrace Downs Resort (Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand) has appointed a new General Manager and unveiled a bold plan to increase the international profile of the popular high country Resort. Seasoned hotelier Dilan De Silva has taken over the reins of the Resort having previously worked as a General Manager of hotels in Vietnam, Qatar, Thailand, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Terrace Downs Owner Jonny Hendriksen says Mr De Silva’s appointment is one of the most positive developments at the Resort in recent times. “Dilan has more than 18 years of hospitality experience and has been the General Manager for several of the world’s leading service and hospitality providers. He is eager to improve the existing offerings at the Resort, as well as develop new markets in an effort to push Terrace Downs to the forefront of New Zealand tourism,’’ says Mr Hendriksen.

Michel Louws has been appointed as Executive Chef at Huka Lodge

Dutch-born Michel comes with a reputation for superb cuisine, originality and a proven passion for creating an exceptional dining experience for those fortunate enough to enjoy his dishes. Following his formal training in The Netherlands Michel sought to combine new challenges and work experience with travel. This allowed Michel to experience first-hand the cuisines of many different cultures as well as providing opportunities to spend time in the kitchens of great restaurants back in The Netherlands. During holidays and leave Michel would be found hard at work at Librije (3 Michelin stars), Inter Scaldis (2 Michelin stars) and 1 Michelin star restaurants Le Cirque and Zusje. In 2002 Michel was offered the role as Head Chef of a charming lakeside restaurant ‘t-Veerhuis, located in Wolphaartsdijk, Zeeland in The Netherlands. By 2007 the establishment rose to 1 Michelin star and was ranked highest runner up in Dutch Top 100 Restaurants. In the same year Michel was honoured by his peers as one of the most promising Top 10 Head Chefs of that year. Michel leaves restaurant ‘t-Veerhuis after seven very successful years and comes to Huka Lodge looking for new challenges. He brings with him great experience at top international level and a well-deserved reputation for exquisite dishes displaying balance as well as imagination and superb flavour combinations.
