Lara Abou Harb has been appointed as Revenue Manager at Salalah Rotana Resort

Salalah Rotana Resort, Oman"s leading beach resort, has appointed Lara Abou Harb as the new revenue manager, serving as department head in charge.No stranger to the company or resort, Abou Harb joins Salalah Rotana Resort from Raouche Arjaan by Rotana where she occupied the position of reservations manager. Her keen eye for strategy led to her to be chosen for a short stint at Salalah Rotana Resort in 2016 as task force, assisting the department in time of need.A graduate of Hospitality management from the University of Beirut, the Lebanese national will oversee managing the revenue and inventory of the 422-key water front resort.

Panagiotis Mertekis has been appointed as Director of Food & Beverage at Sheraton Oman Hotel

Panagiotis Mertekis, director of food & beverage, brings with him over 20 years' experience. Prior to joining Sheraton Oman Hotel, Panagiotis served as a director with Marriott International for the past five years and has worked internationally during his career in The Netherlands, Greece, Jordan and now Oman. Panagiotis has spearheaded retail catering projects and luxury cruise liner hospitality, moving into hotels with Starwood & Resorts and later, with Marriott International.

Sondos Omar has been appointed as Marketing Manager at Sheraton Oman Hotel

Omar joins Sheraton Oman Hotel as marketing manager, with over 12 years experience in hotel marketing. In her new role, Omar is tasked with developing brand initiatives, launching two outlets' campaigns and working with F&B marketing on promotions and PR campaigns. Sondos, who is from Egypt, is an experienced hotelier, having worked with Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt International.

Virginia Elisa Cogliati has been appointed as Spa Director at Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara

In her current role, Cogliati is responsible for overseeing the operations of the spa, which includes five treatment rooms alongside separate wet areas for males and females, relaxation areas, a Thai massage suite and nail spa. She leads a team of skilled therapists to offer guests an array of massages, scrubs, facials and wraps, designed to showcase a blend of Arabian and Asian traditions, with many treatments using indigenous produce such as frankincense and pomegranates, harvested from the local area. She is also responsible for the resort’s 'Balance' programme, which offers bespoke wellness packages to target guests’ specific needs, whether it is weight management, revitalisation, relaxation or detox.

Centara opens first hotel in Middle East

Centara Hotels & Resorts continues to expand internationally with the opening of a four-star, 152-room hotel in Muscat. The property becomes its fifth hotel outside Thailand and first of three planned for the Middle East. The Centara Muscat Hotel is ideally located in the Omani capital"s bustling Ghala Heights business district, close to the convention Centre, Royal Opera House, and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. It is conveniently midway between the airport and historical district, about 15 minutes from each.

Paul Murphy has been appointed as General Manager at Grand Hyatt Muscat

Grand Hyatt Muscat announced the appointment of Paul Murphy as its new general manager from the end of this month. Hailing from Australia, Murphy began his career in food and beverage sector, which led him to work for some of the world’s leading hotels in the UK, Canada, Japan, Russia and back in Australia, before joining Hyatt. He was appointed director of catering at Grand Hyatt Dubai and was then promoted to director of events. For almost five years, he headed the hotel’s Convention and Catering Sales team. In January 2011, Murphy became resident manager of Hyatt Regency Delhi, where he spent 18 months, before being assigned to oversee rebranding and launching of the five Hyatt hotels in India. In September 2013, he became general manager of Hyatt Regency Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan.
