Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli announced the appointment of Mr. Claude Rababy as the new General Manager, having 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry. The appointment aims at strengthening the management's vision to enhance the Group's repute in the sector, as well as plan its growth trajectory in tune with the changing times. During his career spanning between Arab and Western countries, Rababy worked on analyzing market patterns, which helped him enhancing the hotels' performance and increase revenues and profit margins, in addition to working on the standards of the hotels and the implementation of a set of plans & procedures in order to upgrade those facilities.

Erik Guluta has been appointed as General Manager at Centro Capital Doha

Leading hotel management company Rotana has appointed Erik Guluta as the new general manager of Centro Capital Doha. A graduate from Les Roche School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, Guluta brings with him over 12 years' of experience in the hospitality industry, working in various countries like Switzerland, France, UK, Singapore, Thailand and other Arab countries and with prominent names in the industry before joining Rotana in 2015.

Axel Gasser has been appointed as General Manager at Mondrian Doha

A veteran in the hospitality space, Gasser joins Mondrian Doha from Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he was Complex General Manager at Westin Snowmass Resort in Colorado, USA. Prior to that, he spent four years in Miami as Managing Director of the Mayfair Hotel & Spa as well as Area General Manager of Jordache Hotels. Previous positions also include General Manager roles at ASI Hotels & Resorts in Austria, and various General Manager appointments with Marriott Hotels. His accomplishments include the relaunch of an iconic resort which later became one of the top hotels in Miami along with several successful new openings for both branded and independent high end luxury hotels.

Saeid Heidari has been appointed as General Manager at Sheraton Grand Doha

Heidari will be responsible for “strengthening the premier position of Doha’s iconic hotel and driving its growth in regional and international markets”, according to a press statement. Heidari has 28 years of experience in luxury hospitality, and brings in-depth insights on key industry trends, which will enable Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel to identify new opportunities, expand its brand reach, and ensure enhanced and memorable experiences for guests, the statement noted.Heidari is not new to Doha and has earlier served as general manager of Doha Marriott Hotel, where he played an instrumental role in redefining the hotel’s food & beverage offering, and establishing it as preferred destination for food lovers. He launched the brunch and JW Steakhouse, which won the F&B Awards of Excellence (Best F&B Marriott International) in 2008. From Doha, he moved to Mumbai to manage the Renaissance Convention Centre Hotel & Marriott Executive Apartment, the largest hotel complex in India with 777 rooms. Born in Iran, Heidari grew up in Germany where he studied chemistry and law.

Gaurav Khanna has been appointed as General Manager at Nobu Doha

The Four Seasons Hotel Doha has appointed Gaurav Khanna as General Manager of Nobu Doha. In his new role, Khanna will be responsible for overseeing all operations at the restaurant which features an 192-seat interior dining area, two private dining rooms, multiple lounges and catering operations. Khanna has more than 10 years of international five-star hotel operations and restaurant experience. Prior to being appointed General Manager of Nobu Doha, he most recently served as Assistant General Manager of the award-winning restaurant and was part of the pre-opening team.

Mario Schuknecht has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha

Hailing from Germany, Schuknecht assumes his new role with over 28 years of hospitality industry experience, 16 of which have been spent in sales and marketing management roles. Schuknecht, who has a degree from the hotel management school, Dr. W. Blindow in Stadthagen, Germany, became part of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group family in 1999. He has held various positions in the USA, Germany and Switzerland.
