Ruprecht Schmitz has been appointed as General Manager at Orchard Hotel Singapore

Succeeding Mr Lim as General Manager at Orchard Hotel Singapore from 1 December 2009 is our current Executive Assistant Manager (EAM), Mr Ruprecht Schmitz. He is no stranger to the Hotel or to Singapore as he has been EAM of the Hotel since 2006. Mr Schmitz will be taking on expanded responsibility for all aspects of Orchard Hotel’s operations. He will also spearhead the development of its business thus ensuring continued success for this 653-room five-star hotel, situated in the heart of the world famous Orchard Road and home to well-known and celebrated Chinese restaurant Hua Ting Restaurant and Orchard Café. With 15 years of international experience in the hospitality industry, Mr Schmitz has worked in management positions with various International hotel chains in Europe and joined Millennium Hotel Paris Opera in 2003. In 2006, he was posted to Orchard Hotel as the Executive Assistant Manager where he assisted the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the hotel.

Patricia Ortega has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Crowne Plaza Changi Airport

With a track record of more than 15 years in the hotel industry, in her new role Patricia will be responsible for establishing and driving sales and marketing initiatives across various market segments. Patricia joined Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in January 2008 and was a key member of the pre-opening team, joining from InterContinental Singapore, a sister hotel to Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). As Associate Director of Business Development at the InterContinental Singapore, Patricia won global high-profile accounts such as Symantec, Exxonmobil, Nike, Merrill Lynch, and Pfizer. Her other career highlights include stints at Raffles the Plaza and Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore.

Ian Wilson has been appointed as Regional VP, Asia, and GM of the Fairmont Singapore at Fairmont

The quintessential hotelier, Wilson brings a dynamic mix of experience and industry knowledge to this role and has been instrumental in introducing the Fairmont brand in Asia. Prior to launching the brand’s first hotel in the market, Fairmont Singapore, in late 2007, Wilson served as general manager at the landmark Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, where he successfully positioned the hotel as one of Canada’s top revenue-generating hotels. In addition to providing leadership and guidance to his new team of general mangers, Wilson is also tasked with supporting the brand’s regional development activity, which includes announced Fairmont hotel projects in leading destinations such as Manila, Sanya and Macao.
