Luis Maroto has been named President & CEO at Amadeus

Amadeus announces that as of 1 January 2011, Luis Maroto, former Deputy CEO of Amadeus, has replaced David V. Jones as President & CEO of the company. Luis Maroto has worked for Amadeus for 11 years in a number of positions including CFO. For the last two years as Deputy CEO, he has been instrumental in Amadeus’ return to the stock market with the company’s successful IPO in April 2010 and the subsequent inclusion in Spanish blue-chip index IBEX-35, where the company is debuting today.

Gérard Sintès has been appointed as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona

Gérard Sintès will succeed Luis Marcó as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona with effect from 1 April 2010. Mr Marcó is retiring after a 45-year career in the hospitality industry. Mr Sintès, who has almost 30 years of experience in the global luxury hospitality industry, joins Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona from One & Only Cape Town where he held the position of General Manager and was responsible for the hotel opening in 2009. He has held senior management positions in many award-winning properties around the globe, including the role of General Manager at One &Only Le Saint Géran Hotel, Spa & Golf Club in Mauritius from 1999 to 2005. Mr Sintès has also gained significant experience with management postings in Asia, including the position of General Manager of Shangri La, Bangkok from 2005 to 2008. A French national, he is a graduate of Lausanne Hotel School and as well as his native language is fluent in Spanish and English.

Rene Zimmer has been appointed as General Manager at Finca Cortesin Hotel

Rene Zimmer’s 20 years of luxury hotel management experience has brought him to Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf, and Spa. From November 2006 until March 2009, Rene was the Executive Assistant Manager at the 301-room Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg, Russia. Prior to this, Rene was Director of Food and Beverage at Hotel La Residencia in Mallorca, Spain. He received his Hospitality Degree while being an apprentice for a prominent Relais & Chateaux property in Bavaria, Germany; he later achieved a Short MBA from Marcus Evans, Cheney Court, England. Born in Bautzen, Germany, Rene is fluent in his native tongue, English, and Spanish, with a good knowledge of French and Italian.Opened in October 2008, Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa is a luxury resort located in southern Spain near the village of Casares, one of the most picturesque villages of Andalucia, and situated between Marbella and Sotogrande.
