Tetsujiro Ogata has been appointed as Japanese Head Chef at Megu at The Alpina Gstaad

For the upcoming winter season, The Alpina Gstaad will welcome a new chef to its Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant. Tetsujiro Ogata will take the reins as Japanese Head Chef of the resort's award-winning Megu on December 6. An experienced culinary professional with more than 20 years' experience, he has held senior chef positions at luxury hotels and top restaurants in ten countries including the U.S. and Switzerland. Chef Ogata has supervised Japanese cuisine at properties of such luxury brands as Rosewood, Ritz Carlton and Atlantis.

CitizenM opens first Swiss hotel in Zurich

CitizenM has marked its first Switzerland-based hotel with an opening in Zurich. Housed in an iconic building erected in the 1950s - formerly made up of office and retail space - the hotel has been designed by CitizenM's longstanding partner Concrete. Large shop windows and staircase have been retained, while the rest of the interior spaces have been refurbished to create a 160-key property with two living rooms, a check-in desk area, a canteen with bar and bakery, and several SocietyM meeting rooms.

Former Hotel Allegro becomes Swissôtel Kursaal Bern

More than 20 years after opening, the Kursaal Bern enters a new chapter in its history. Kongress + Kursaal Bern AG entered into an agreement with Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts whereby, effective in autumn 2020, Hotel Allegro will then be operated as Swissôtel Kursaal Bern. As part of this exciting next chapter for the hotel, Kongress + Kursaal Bern AG will invest approximately 16 million Swiss Francs on remodeling the property's 171 guest rooms as well as the lobby space. Renovations will commence next January and are due to be completed by autumn 2020. The hotel will remain open during the refurbishment process. Once complete, guests can look forward to clever design solutions, high-quality furnishings and a carefully thought-out sustainability concept, but also to traditional Swiss hospitality in the midst of one of the country's most historic cities.

Deutsche Hospitality has announced further development plans for its core German, Austrian and Swiss markets. The second IntercityHotel to be launched in Switzerland will open in Geneva in 2022. The IntercityHotel Geneva Airport will be located in the new Quartier de l'Étang between the airport and the city centre and will boast a total of 270 rooms. It will offer fully air conditioned rooms with modern furnishings, free Wi-Fi, a wellness area with gym, an all-day restaurant, a modern meetings area and a Crew Lounge.
