Largest easyHotel opens its doors at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Yesterday easyHotel Benelux fully opened the doors of its newest location, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. With no fewer than 153 rooms, this ninth establishment of easyHotel Benelux is the largest hotel of this fast-growing label to date. Part of the rooms have been available to guests since last July, but the hotel has been fully open since yesterday. At this top location, easyHotel Benelux with an opening rate of € 44 per room per night offers the possibility of a very affordable stay at Schiphol and is therefore the cheapest in the area. In addition to the favorable price and the offer of 153 rooms, this establishment has even more extras planned for its guests. Unlike the other hotels, this hotel does offer a small range of snacks and drinks and there is the possibility to relax in the lobby.

The Slaak Rotterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel opens in The Netherlands

Tribute Portfolio, Marriott International's newest collection of independent, characterful hotels, today welcomed The Slaak Rotterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel to its European roster following a captivating transformation of the iconic 'Het Slaakhuys' building which was originally designed by Dutch architect Jo Vegter in 1952. The architecturally significant landmark was home to the influential Dutch newspaper Het Vrije Volk (The Free People) until 1976. The building's rich history associated with print has inspired the design and concept for the 74-room boutique hotel.

Opening of £9 million repositioned Park Plaza Vondelpark, Amsterdam

Remco Gerritsen has been appointed as General Manager at nhow Amsterdam RAI

NH Hotel Group has appointed Remco Gerritsen as General Manager of nhow Amsterdam RAI to set up the creative hotel brand in Amsterdam. nhow Amsterdam RAI is the second nhow hotel in the Netherlands and, with 650 rooms and 25 floors, the largest new-build hotel in the Benelux.Remco Gerritsen, born in the Netherlands, studied Hotel Management at Stenden University in Leeuwarden. After his studies he started at KLM as Party & Location Manager, where his career path quickly led to his first position in Operations in 1997. The hotel industry started to ogle and Gerritsen started working for Golden Tulip. Golden Tulip was acquired by NH Hotel Group in 2002, so Gerritsen is no stranger to the hotel chain. In 2007, Gerritsen left NH Hotel Group for an international career in Europe and Asia at PPHE Hotels, Azimut Hotels, IHG Hotels and Maritim Hotels. After his last position as Director of Operations at Maritim, he now starts as General Manager of nhow Amsterdam RAI at NH Hotel Group.The out-of-the-box work attitude and drive for innovation and continuous improvement have been key factors in the appointment of Remco Gerritsen. Gerritsen is looking forward to expanding the lifestyle hotel brand in the Netherlands. "Nobody can get around the building, thanks to the fantastic design by the architectural firm OMA. The interior is also a feast for the eyes. The "The Culture's Hub" theme lives throughout the hotel - from lobby to room, "says Gerritsen. The reopening of the Savoy Hotel Rotterdam was celebrated on Thursday 4 July. Since 1961, the Savoy Hotel Rotterdam has welcomed guests from home and abroad. The Savoy Hotel has undergone a major renovation in recent months and has since been reopened. During the festive reopening, Robèr Willemsen, chairman of the Royal Horeca Netherlands (KHN), took the floor. Arne Heuwekemeijer has been appointed as General Manager at NH Collection Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky

Arne Heuwekemeijer has recently officially welcomed his first guests to NH Collection Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. The new General Manager took up his duties on 20 May and has extensive international experience in luxury hotels. After years of working in Asia, the last of which as General Manager of the five-star Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai, Heuwekemeijer says he comes "back home" in Amsterdam. Heuwekemeijer succeeds Herman Klok in his position. Klok continues his career at NH Hotel Group as Regional Director Operations Amsterdam, United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Jos Pallandt has been appointed as Rooms Division Director at Hotel Okura Amsterdam

Jos Pallandt (31) has a proven track record at the five-star superior Hotel Okura Amsterdam. He has held various positions since joining the hotel in 2009, including assistant front office manager and assistant director of food & beverage. Following his appointment as director of rooms, Jos will join the management team of Hotel Okura Amsterdam. As of 1 May, Jos Pallandt's responsibilities include the front office, concierge, guest relations, security and housekeeping departments. He will also be responsible for Okura's wellness centre Nagomi Spa & Health.

Femke Groeneveld-Weller has been appointed as Deputy General Manager at Hotel Okura Amsterdam

In addition to her current position as commercial director, as of 17 May Femke Groeneveld-Weller (52) will also assume the role of deputy general manager and will consequently have a different position in the management team. After gaining more than 20 years of experience in the international hotel sector, Femke Groeneveld-Weller joined Hotel Okura Amsterdam in 2009 to continue her career in the hospitality industry. She initially joined our hotel in the position of director of conferences & events, before being appointed as commercial director with responsibility for the hotel's commercial strategy in 2011. In her new role, Femke will remain responsible for the hotel's commercial departments, while taking on the additional role of acting general manager in the absence of general manager Michiel Roelfsema.

Alexander Peulen has been appointed as General Manager at the niu Fender Amsterdam

In the beginning of May, Alexander Peulen was appointed as General Manager of the soon to be opened the niu Fender in Amsterdam. Prior to this, Peulen held the position of Director at management company Ooghduyne BV for four years and was previously Parkmanager at Landal Beach Resort Ooghduyne for 10 years. During the upcoming months he is going to further develop the operational part in assignment of Novum Hospitality, the new hotel in the Entrepotharbour near Cruquius Island. After the opening he will take on the daily management activities.
