Peter Feely has been appointed as Hotel Manager at Conrad London St. James

onrad London St. James is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Feely as Hotel Manager. With over 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Peter joins the hotel from Sofitel London St. James where he worked as Hotel Manager since 2014. Prior to that, Peter spent four years at Chancery Court Hotel London where he held the role of Director of Operations before becoming Hotel Manager. After receiving a degree in International Hospitality Management from the University of Central Lancashire Peter spent his early career in roles abroad such as Beijing, Rio de Janeiro and Washington. On returning to the UK Peter also worked in management positions in a number of Marriott Hotels properties as part of their UKIMEA Task Force.

Russell Kett has been named Recipient of the Hot.E Hall of Fame Award 2017 at Hotel Investment Conference Europe (Hot.E)

Russell Kett, chairman of HVS London and long-standing commentator and consultant to the hotel industry, was today awarded the prestigious Hotel Investment Conference Europe (Hot.E) Hall of Fame Award 2017. The Award was presented at this week’s Hot.E conference, being held in London, by Jim Burba, president of host organisation Burba Hotel Network (BHN).The Hall of Fame Award recognises an investor, developer, or hotel leader whose career has had a profound and positive impact on the European hotel industry. The honouree is recognised for their business success, intellectual leadership, and personal dedication to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.After gaining his hotel school qualifications some 45 years ago, Kett joined Strand Hotels as an internal auditor before becoming the assistant financial controller of London’s Cumberland Hotel. He entered consultancy initially with accountancy firms Deloitte & Touche and BDO Stoy Hayward (Horwath Consulting), before joining HVS in January 1995. Kett is now chairman of the London office of HVS, the leading global specialist hotel valuation, consulting and brokerage firm. Its London office has some 30 people working exclusively on hotel valuations, feasibility studies, market studies, shared ownership developments, executive search, asset management, investment appraisals, brokerage, and investment banking. He is a frequent writer, moderator and speaker on the international hotel industry and lectures at leading international hotel schools including Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, IMHI-Essec in Paris, Cornell University, Oxford Brookes University and the Scottish Hotel School, University of Strathclyde, where he was a visiting senior lecturer for 11 years. In 2011 he was awarded the HOSPA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Emma Dore has been appointed as General Manager at Hotel du Vin & Bistro Wimbledon

Emma Dore, the former general manager at Malmasion Oxford, has moved to the 48-bedroom Hotel du Vin & Bistro Wimbledon. Dore has worked with the group for 16 years and has held general manager roles with Malmasion in Newcastle and Leeds, as well as Oxford. The Wimbledon hotel, based in Cannizaro House on Wimbledon Common, joined the Hotel du Vin brand in 2015 after being acquired by the company the previous year.

Steven Wilmer has been appointed as General Manager at Malmaison Cheltenham

Steven Wilmer (left) has been promoted to general manager of the 60-bedroom Malmaison Cheltenham, having joined the hotel as deputy general manager in December 2016 when he was selected to join the company’s Rising Star programme. He originally joined the group in 2014 as bistro and events manager at Hotel du Vin St Andrews and was later promoted to deputy general manager at Hotel du Vin Harrogate.
