Bulgari Hotels & Resorts signed an agreement for the new Bulgari Hotel in London due to open in spring 2012. The luxury hotel located in Knightsbridge, the most prestigious area of Central London next to Hyde Park, is the third hotel project of Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, after the opening of the Bulgari Hotel in Milan in 2004 and of the Bulgari Resort in Bali in 2006.

The full year 2010 shows strong profit growth in London but stagnation in the provinces. London hotels showed a double-digit increase in profits, according to the 2010 figures in the latest HotStats survey from TRI Hospitality Consulting. The performance in the provinces, however, was less robust with Gross Operating Profit per Available Room (GOPPAR) dropping by 1.4%. This compares to the 13.9% rise in London.

UK prices drop following the holiday season, but remain 14% higher than a year ago. Mint, the recently rebranded city centre hotel chain, is close to being put up for sale by Lloyds Banking Group and the Orr family with a price tag of around £550m. An information memorandum for prospective buyers is expected to be issued over the next few weeks after the joint-owners appointed investment bank JP Morgan Cazenove to handle the sale. Mint, which was founded as City Inn in 1995 and was only rebranded in November, is one of a number of hotel companies inherited by Lloyds after its painful acquisition of HBOS.
