Revenue growth hasn't been an issue for UK hoteliers this year. It's driving profit that has them frustrated. In a tale that is becoming all too common for the region, RevPAR at UK hotels was up in November, but profit against the same time last year was negative, according to data from HotStats. The research focuses on the top 10 largest UK cities and reveals the hotel scores and various traveler types, including how family, business, couples, or solo travelers rate the cities based on data from the past 24 months. Additionally, the company analyzed the general review sentiments expressed by travelers in the year 2019 for UK's biggest cities; among them were London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Bristol. Surprisingly, London scored poorly for being fit for different traveler types with business, family, and solo travelers rating it as the least appealing city. Instead, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Edinburgh were among the most well-perceived by the different traveler categories.

Hilton (NYSE: HLT) is launching the UK's largest ever soap recycling programme to reduce waste going to landfill and help communities in need. In partnership with Clean the World, Hilton hotels in the UK will divert 64 tons of waste from landfill every year, creating more than 700,000 new bars to distribute to those in need. This expansion of Hilton's industry-leading soap recycling programme is a major step towards Hilton's goal to recycle 100% of its leftover soap bars.
Like the three that preceded it, the final quarter of 2019 started with a year-over-year fall in profits per available room in the UK, according to data from HotStats. The 5.3% YOY drop in GOPPAR in October was only surpassed by the 9.4% plunge recorded in April, and marks the seventh month in the year to record a YOY contraction in profits.
