Twenty14 Holdings, the hospitality investment arm of Lulu Group International, has completed a £85m acquisition of the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian.

He has a proven track record for driving sales, creating strong local networks and overseeing mid-scale and up-scale global hotel brands. Lucy O’Grady joins the team as the new Sales Manager having previously overseen a portfolio of mid-scale hotels for KGH. With her extensive event planning and sales experience, Lucy will be tasked with managing existing business contracts and building new opportunities for the hotel.
The Best Western Plus Samlesbury Hotel has appointed a new general manager. Constantin Betianu has taken up the reins at the Preston-based 80-bedroom hotel, which is owned by Squire Hotels. A wealth of experience in the industry, Constantin has worked in senior roles at the Marriott Hotel, Preston whilst he also has extensive experience in the cruise industry. The Best Western Plus Samlesbury Hotel is part of Squire Hotels, a group of contemporary hotels which also owns Etrop Grange Hotel, Manchester Airport and The Hydro hotel, Lake District.
The Isle of Arran resort of Auchrannie has become the first in Scotland to be owned by its employees.
The resort has been owned and operated by the Johnston family since 1988 and is valued at £4.3m.
An Employee Ownership Trust now holds 100% of the company's shares on behalf of its 160 employees.
The existing shareholders, all members of the Johnston family, will be paid out of the profits of the business over a 25-year period.
When Iain and Linda Johnston bought Auchrannie in 1988 it was a 16-bedroom guest house.
The family has since grown it into a resort with two hotels totalling 85 rooms, 30 self-catering lodges, three restaurants, two leisure clubs and an outdoor adventure centre.

Paterson will be CEO of Interchange & Consort Hotels, the parent company of Best Western Great Britain and its purchasing company, Beacon. He joins following news last week of Best Western Great Britain posting a record year for number of hotel applications and activations in 2017.
