Jean-Claude Plihon has been appointed as Director of Culinary and Food & Beverage Operations at Park Hyatt Washington, D.C.

Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. General Manager Terry Dunbar is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Claude Plihon as the hotel's new director of culinary and food & beverage operations. Plihon will oversee all culinary operations for the award-winning Blue Duck Tavern, 24-hour room service, and banquet operations of the landmark award-winning hotel, which is situated in the heart of the nation's capital. Plihon joins the Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. team from Dallas where he served for 10 years as executive chef of the AAA four-diamond Grand Hyatt DFW. Under his leadership, Grand Hyatt DFW flourished, and Plihon was recently honored as 2019 Texas Chef Association's Dallas Chef of the Year. He also earned the 2017 Hyatt Culinary Leader of the Year award and 2015 Hyatt Culinary Team of the Year accolade.

Doyle Collection Puts the Finishing Touches on The Dupont Circle Hotel Relaunch

The Doyle Collection is thrilled to officially relaunch The Dupont Circle hotel in Washington, D.C. with the completion of its Penthouse Suite by Clodagh. The space is available in two configurations with one bedroom or two bedrooms. When expanded into two-bedrooms, the suite is one of the largest in the city at 1,980 square feet. The heated outdoor terrace, which overlooks Dupont Circle and has views of the Washington Monument, adds an additional 590 square feet.

Fifth Cambria Hotel In Washington, DC, Metro Area Breaks Ground

Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), Donohoe Development Company and Koucar Management announce the official start of construction on the Cambria Hotel Washington D.C. Capitol Riverfront. The new-construction, nine-story, 154-room upscale hotel, which is expected to open in early 2021, will become the Cambria brand's fifth location in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Eight Cambria locations have already opened their doors this year — together representing over 1,100 upscale rooms. Up to four additional Cambria hotels are expected to open in top-tier markets across the country by year-end.

Blane joins Kimpton after more than two decades in the restaurant and hospitality industry, most recently serving as a consultant at Next Door Dining, providing strategic insight to restaurants, hotels, private equity investors and start-ups to maximize revenue and minimize costs. In his day to day at Glover Park Hotel, Blane is responsible for overseeing all personnel, business development and guest relations for the boutique hotel.A longtime restaurateur and Washingtonian familiar with the upper Northwest neighborhoods, Blane most notably launched high-end American restaurant Unum in 2011, serving as executive chef and owner-operator until 2017. When he's not at work, Blane enjoys spending time with his wife and son playing Frisbee, jumping on roller coasters at Six Flags, and tackling crossword puzzles. Despite being his first hotel general manager role, Blane brings an impeccable eye for operations and details to Glover Park Hotel and has already began to positively impact the property and guest experience, drawing on his long time Georgetown and Glover Park connections to enhance neighborhood relationships and building out the hotels senior staff.

Adela Toto has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Kimpton Glover Park Hotel

In her new role with Kimpton Glover Park Hotel, she will oversee the hotel's sales, marketing and catering teams, who expertly arrange meetings, weddings and events of up to 200 guests throughout the hotel's 3,000 sq uare feet of function space with cuisine from adjacent award-winning neighborhood Italian restaurant, Casolare. Toto provides strategic planning for all group and leisure sales, revenue, digital marketing, advertising and public relations efforts. With concerted effort on international markets as well as embassy business, Toto is an asset to the team as she fluently speaks four languages: Albanian, English, Italian and German.Toto joins the Kimpton Glover Park Hotel team from The Alexandrian and Morrison House Autograph Collection Hotels, where she was the complex associate director of sales and marketing. Throughout the past 18 years, Toto has worked with five-star luxury properties in Albania as well as various hospitality companies in the greater Detroit and Washington, D.C. metro areas - building strong relationships with both clients and the local community. Toto lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband and one year old.

Birchington to Break Ground on 247-Room Holiday Inn Express in Washington, DC’s Mount Vernon Triangle Neighborhood

A 247-room Holiday Inn Express hotel will break ground this month in Washington, DC's Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. Birchington LLC, owned by Habte Sequar, closed on a construction loan from Atlanta-based Stonehill Strategic Capital to commence construction on the $93 million project.

She continued to advance her career at top hotels in the Florida market before returning to the Mid-Atlantic as a director of sales and marketing at Bethany Beach Ocean Suites in Delaware. Prior to joining the team at Kimpton, she was task force director of sales and marketing with Crestline Hotels & Resorts in Fairfax, Virginia. A world traveler and graduate of Catham College in Pittsburgh, Saad-Loman has called the greater D.C. area home for the past seven months. Outside of work, she can be found planning her next trip, finding places to use her fluent French and recommends everyone live abroad at least once in their lives. Slated to open in late 2019, Canopy by Hilton is opening its third Washington D.C. property, Canopy by Hilton Washington D.C., Embassy Row. Set 15 minutes from the White House, Embassy Row is perfectly situated in the heart of Scott Circle conveniently located near some of D.C.'s most notable attractions including the National Mall and the historic Georgetown neighborhood. Drawing on local elements, design inspiration was pulled from the local monuments and architecture with a contemporary twist. All the art pieces are appointed, yet whimsical with exaggerated proportions and pops of color.
