Stowe Shoemaker has been appointed as Dean at UNLV's Harrah College of Hotel Administration

Shoemaker, a Lincy scholar at the Harrah College of Hotel Administration, will assume his new position on July 1, said UNLV's Executive Vice President John Valery White. Shoemaker succeeds Don Snyder, who stepped down to lead the UNLV Now stadium project. Shoemaker has consulting experience in a variety of hospitality fields, including gaming, hotels, airlines, cruise ships and major medical centers. His background is in pricing, revenue management and customer-loyalty programs.

Bill Hornbuckle has been named President & Chief Marketing Officer at MGM Resorts International

In the newly-created position that will report to Jim Murren, Chairman & CEO of MGM Resorts International, Hornbuckle will assume expanded responsibility to include Gaming Development. "Bill Hornbuckle is widely regarded as one of the most strategic and effective leaders in the hospitality and entertainment industry," Murren said. "Since assuming the newly-created role of CMO for the company in 2010, he has been focused on growing the company's relationships with our customers and guests. He has achieved this with significant success, for example, in the creation and growth of our M life customer loyalty program," Murren added.

Cliff Atkinson has been appointed as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas

Cliff Atkinson joins Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas from the Group’s property in San Francisco, where, as General Manager, he oversaw the successful execution of a complete renovation to the award-winning hotel in May 2012. A veteran hotelier with 20 years of experience, Mr Atkinson first joined Mandarin Oriental in 1998 as Director of Revenue Management at Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco and was later promoted to Corporate Director of Revenue Management. In 2003, he joined the opening team at Mandarin Oriental, New York as Executive Assistant Manager. Mr Atkinson also held roles as General Manager at Ian Schrager’s Gramercy Park Hotel in New York and Ralph Burnet’s Chambers Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A successor to Mr Atkinson at Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco will be announced in due course.

Anton Nikodemus has been appointed as President & COO of Casino Marketing at MGM Resorts International

Nikodemus will provide leadership in the strategic planning process for casino marketing, special events, customer development teams and programs, governance, and credit/collection decisions. He will lead strategic planning efforts for future marketing development. He will also coordinate efforts between senior management and be responsible for developing, implementing and managing all aspects of National Casino Marketing, National Branch Offices, International Marketing and International Branch Offices.

Rob Oseland has been named President and Chief Operating Officer at SLS Las Vegas

Chris Cahill has been appointed as Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Las Vegas Sands Corporation

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) announces today that Chris Cahill is joining the company in the newly created position of executive vice president of global operations. After almost two decades with Fairmont Raffles International, Mr. Cahill started with Las Vegas Sands on April 1, 2012 and is responsible for overseeing the company’s various property operations, as well as corporate marketing, human resources, and other operating departments. He reports to company President and Chief Operating Officer Michael A. Leven. While at Fairmont Raffles and its predecessor organizations, Mr. Cahill gained an international reputation for excellence as he led the company through several successful mergers as both president and chief operating officer. Mr. Cahill began his hospitality career in 1978 as a beverage manager for the Delta Hotel in Ottawa, Canada and has served in a number of senior positions before landing his current role as chief operating officer of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, which he has held since 2006.

Gigi Vega has been appointed as General Manager at the Nobu Hotel Las Vegas

As progress continues on the world’s first Nobu Hotel, Restaurant and Lounge at Caesars Palace, slated to welcome guests in fall 2012, the venture has announced Gigi Vega as general manager of Nobu Hotel. Vega will oversee the operation of Nobu Hotel, working with her team to implement the highest service standards and uphold Nobu and Caesars Palace experience expectations. Vega is no newcomer to the luxury hotel industry with nearly 25 years of experience in hospitality. She joined Caesars Palace in January 2009 as vice president of luxury hotel operations, successfully leading operations for the exclusive villas and luxury suites. Prior to joining the Caesars Entertainment family Vega held a 10-year tenure with Mandarin Oriental where she held esteemed positions including resident manager and assistant executive manager for the Mandarin Oriental, Macau and Manila brands, respectively

Cynthia Boyett has been appointed as Director of Business Development at Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas

Ms. Boyett was most recently with Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, where she held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing. Prior to St. Thomas, Boyett served as Director of Group and Catering Sales at Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. In addition to Mandarin Oriental, Miami, Boyett has served on opening teams for Four Seasons Aviara, Miami and West Lake Village. In her new role, Ms. Boyett will oversee all of Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas Group, Transient and Catering Sales.

George P. Corchis has been appointed as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at MGM Resorts International

In his new position, Mr. Corchis has assumed responsibility for managing the strategic direction of MGM Grand Detroit while maintaining responsibility for overseeing Beau Rivage in Biloxi and Gold Strike in Tunica, Mississippi. He most recently served as President and COO of the Company's two Mississippi properties. Mr. Corchis originally joined the Company in 1993 as part of the finance department of The Mirage Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. He went on to join Binion's Horseshoe in 1994 where he quickly attained key management positions during a successful 11-year tenure. Mr. Corchis is the only executive to serve in primary leadership positions at each of the three Horseshoe properties outside Nevada. He also served in a dual role for Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Horseshoe Casino & Hotel and the Sheraton Casino & Hotel, both in Tunica, Miss.

Corey Sanders has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer at MGM Resorts International

Mr. Sanders has been with the Company for more than 16 years, and has held a variety of executive positions. In addition to serving as Chief Financial Officer of both MGM Grand Las Vegas and MGM Grand Resorts, he has also served as Executive Vice President – Operations, where he developed both growth opportunities and operating efficiencies for the Company. For the past 14 months, Mr. Sanders has served as Chief Operating Officer for the Company's Core Brand and Regional Properties. Throughout this period, Corey has worked closely with Bill Hornbuckle to design and deploy new ideas to grow our business.

Anthony Sanfilippo has been named President, Chief Executive Officer at Pinnacle Entertainment

Anthony Sanfilippo succeeds John V. Giovenco, who has served as Pinnacle's interim chief executive officer since November 2009 and will continue to serve on Pinnacle's board. Mr. Sanfilippo was instrumental in repositioning Multimedia Games' operating focus and financial discipline. This focus included new initiatives that resulted in the creation of a more effective process for the development of new games, which has driven the creation of products that are receiving increased interest from casino operators; significantly higher levels of cash generation; the rationalization of selling, general and administrative expenses; and a strengthened balance sheet with higher cash balances and reduced outstanding borrowings. Prior to joining Multimedia Games, Mr. Sanfilippo served in executive roles at Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., the world's largest casino company. During his tenure at Harrah's, he served as president of Harrah's central and western divisions, overseeing the operations of more than two dozen casinos and gaming resorts. Mr. Sanfilippo was also a member of the senior management team that led the successful integration of gaming assets acquired by Harrah's, including Jack Binion's Horseshoe Casinos, the Grand Casino & Hotel brand, Players International and Louisiana Downs racetrack. In addition, Mr. Sanfilippo was president and chief operating officer for Harrah's New Orleans and a board member of Jazz Casino Corp. prior to Harrah's acquiring full ownership. He has directed tribal gaming operations in Arizona, California and Kansas and has held gaming licenses in most states that offer legalized gambling.

Tim Maland has been appointed as General Manager at Mont Blue Resort and Casino

Maland brings strong operating and financial experience to his new position. He also possesses a deep understanding of the Reno-Tahoe hospitality and gaming market having served as the President of the Reno Hilton from 2001 to 2006. Prior to his time with Hilton, Maland was General Manager of the Santa Fe Casino and Hotel and CFO of Caesar’s Palace, both in Las Vegas. Earlier in his career, he was Executive Vice President of Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. Maland served the state of Nevada in 2007 and 2008 as Director of the Nevada State Tourism Commission, a state agency that had a promotion budget of $23 million. Maland is a CPA who earned his Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative systems in 1975 at the Arizona State University School of Business.

Michael Leven has been named COO and President at Las Vegas Sands, Corp

Mr. Leven is a veteran hospitality executive with 48 years of experience in the business and a distinguished and well-recognized record of success. He was formerly president and CEO of US Franchise Systems, Inc., the company he founded in 1995, which developed and franchised the Microtel Inns & Suites and Hawthorn Suites hotel brands. He was previously the president and COO of Holiday Inn Worldwide, president of Days Inn of America, and president of Americana Hotels. He has also served on the board of directors of Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Hersha Hospitality Trust. In his new role with LVS, Mr. Leven will supervise the overall operations of the company's U.S. and international locations.
