Under her direction, The Cloister Spa at Sea Island received the SpaFinder Readers’ Choice Award in the Luxury Category and was also honored with Mobil’s Five-Star Rating.

Juliane Chalabi has been appointed as Catering Manager at InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco

Juliane Chalabi’s career path to the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco includes experience in the communications, sales and promotion, education, and restaurant industries. After earning her Master of Business Administration in Hotel Management with Finance at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Bluche, Switzerland, she joined the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco as part of the future leader program, which allowed her to experience various aspects of the hotel. She later took on the position of Assistant Banquet Manager & Meeting Concierge and was recently promoted to Catering Manager.

Michelle Barnard has been appointed as Sales Manager at InterContinental Hotels San Francisco

One of the newest additions to the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco, Michelle Barnard joins the team as Sales Manager from the InterContinental London Park Lane where she held the position of Business Development Manager for the MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, events) group. Her early hospitality industry experience included positions as Front Desk Receptionist, Reservations Sales Agent, and Assistant Front Office Manager at the Protea Hotel Wanderers in South Africa. She brings additional experience from the Ritz London and the Wyndham Grand Chelsea Harbour to her new role.

Elizabeth Githuka has been appointed as Area Reservations Manager at InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco

Elizabeth Githuka has more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry with the last seven in hotels. She has been with the InterContinental San Francisco since 2008 as Reservations Agent, and was later promoted to Area Group Reservations Supervisor, adding the InterContinental Mark Hopkins to her responsibilities. Most recently promoted to Area Reservations Manager, Githuka works with a team of five Reservations Coordinators, making sure that individual guests as well as groups are handled efficiently as well as professionally.

Johanna Mercado has been promoted to Associate Director of Catering at InterContinental Hotels San Francisco

Recently promoted to Associate Director of Catering, Johanna Mercado brings over twenty years of experience to the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco. Mercado first joined the team in 2008 as Catering Manager and later Senior Catering Sales for both the InterContinental San Francisco and InterContinental Mark Hopkins properties where she oversaw the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical education, and university markets, exceeding quarterly revenue goals. Prior to joining the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco, Johanna was Sales and Catering Manager for HOTEL REX and Sales Coordinator for the HOTEL CARLTON, both Joie De Vivre Hotels. She was most recently Senior Convention Services Manager at the InterContinental San Francisco.

James Wroblewski has been appointed as General Manager at W Los Angeles- West Beverly Hills

W Los Angeles – West Beverly Hills is pleased to announce the appointment of James Wroblewski as General Manager. With 17 years of management experience in the hospitality industry, Wroblewski brings a refined expertise to his new position at W Los Angeles – West Beverly Hills, the fifth ever property for W Hotels and the brand’s entrée into the Los Angeles market. Wroblewski attended the University of Nevada – Las Vegas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration. He began working with Starwood in 1999 as the Front Office/Front Desk Manager at The Westin Century Plaza Hotel and Spa in Los Angeles. He was quickly promoted to Director of Housekeeping, and subsequently, Director of Six Sigma. In 2003, Wroblewski began a new role as Director of Operations at The Westin Pasadena in Pasadena, California, followed by successful tenures serving at the Palms Casino & Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, and the W Chicago – City Center. Most recently, Wroblewski served as General Manager for the W New Orleans – French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. Wroblewski is committed to delivering the high quality guest experiences offered by Starwood Hotels & Resorts and is excited to continue the excellence of this iconic hotel. In his free time, Wroblewski enjoys exploring his new home of Los Angeles and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Anita Rahman has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Grand Hyatt San Francisco

Grand Hyatt San Francisco announces the appointment of Anita Rahman as the hotel’s new Director of Sales and Marketing. Rahman was most recently Director of Sales and Marketing at Andaz Maui at Wailea, where she led the efforts in opening the brand’s first resort destination. Having previously held roles at Hyatts in San Francisco, Seattle, and San Diego, Rahman brings with her 16 years of experience with Hyatt, a keen understanding of marketing and sales goals, and a strong familiarity with the city’s hospitality industry.Rahman began her Hyatt career as Catering and Conference Services Manager at the Park Hyatt San Francisco, and was eventually promoted to Sales Manager at the hotel. After serving in a variety of sales roles at Grand Hyatt Seattle, Hyatt at Olive 8, and Andaz San Diego, Rahman joined the opening team at Andaz Maui at Wailea in 2012 as Director of Sales and Marketing. In this role, Rahman provided leadership and strategy during the launch of the Andaz brand’s first-ever resort destination.
