Honduras jockeys for ecotourism favor

The Lodge at Pico Bonito, a 22-cabin ecoresort on Honduras’s Caribbean coast, is a lush, attractive retreat great for birding and hiking enthusiasts. Vinelli’s lament speaks to a larger problem: the Central American country is playing second fiddle to more developed tourism destinations such as Guatemala and Nicaragua. But it’s trying, and it has plenty to offer investors; archeology buffs; and birding, hiking and diving enthusiasts.
