Accor launches unprecedented project in Brazil for the inclusion of people of all sizes
Accor, a pioneer in inclusive initiatives for Global hospitality, announced in September a revolutionary milestone in the Brazilian hotel industry: the adoption of a plus size trousseau as a pilot project at Pullman São Paulo Ibirapuera, which includes towels and robes of bigger sizes to meet the needs of all size of bodies. The initiative is part of the project "Hospitality has no size", ensuring a comfortable stay for people of all sizes and shapes.

Costa Rican Vacations Announces Scholarship Winners
In honor of the upcoming National Travel and Tourism Week, travel agency Costa Rican Vacations has announced the 2017 winners of its scholarship program. Two sustainable tourism students will receive $1000 each to continue their studies at U.S. universities.Both students were selected based on a personal essay describing their career goals in relation to their specific field of study. This years winners are the following:- Jennet Nedirmammedova, University of Wyoming: Originally from Turkmenistan, Jennet is a junior in Environmental System Science and is the treasurer of the Sustainability Club.- Carmel Bendit-Shtull, Cornell University: A sophomore in Hotel Administration, Carmel spent a gap year interning in Costa Rica at two sustainable hotels.Since our founding, Costa Rican Vacations has been involved in promoting sustainable tourism within Costa Rica, said Casey Halloran, CEO, Namu Travel Group. Our company is comprised of a diverse, international team who endeavor to promote, improve, and encourage tourism and responsible travel.Launched in 2015, the scholarship reflects the companys commitment to sustainable travel. AHLEI Signs Agreement with COTELCO
The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) has signed an agreement with the Associacion Hotelera y Turistica de Colombia (COTELCO), which will enable COTELCO to distribute AHLEI courses, training products, and professional certifications to its member properties throughout Colombia. COTELCO was founded in 1954 by a group of hoteliers in the city of Barranquilla. At its founding, there were only 19 hotels in the country; today, COTELCO has around 800 member companies. The association is led by Gustavo A. Toro Velásquez, president and CEO (pictured). COTELCO's vision is to be the most representative of the country's hotel and tourism guilds, known for having developed effective strategies that have strengthened the competitiveness and internationalization of the tourism industry, and for leadership in the analysis sector, influencing public policies that help to position tourism as one of the most important industries of the national economy. Through the new agreement with AHLEI, COTELCO members will receive special pricing on AHLEI certification and training products, and will be able to purchase these products directly from AHLEI. In addition, they will be able to purchase AHLEI's hospitality management courses, many of which have been translated into Spanish through an earlier arrangement with COTELCO, which will have the right to print the Spanish-language textbooks for use by members. "We are convinced that this partnership will bring great benefits to our members and especially for Colombian tourism. Having the backing of an entity such as the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute is so important to the training plan advanced by the association," said Gustavo Toro. "The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute is pleased to be working with COTELCO to address the professional development needs of the hospitality and tourism industry in Colombia," said Brenda L. Estacio University inaugurated its Campus in Sao Paulo
Set in a space of 5,000 m² and exclusively dedicated for Hospitality and Culinary Arts programmes, the campus has eight classrooms, five laboratories -each with a kitchen-, a housekeeping demonstration room and a restaurant with bar adapted to provide practical know-how to the students. In addition, there are two computer rooms, auditorium with capacity for 170 people and 200 parking spaces.

Marriott International, Inc. has opened a new development office in Sao Paulo, Brazil as part of an overall global restructuring of the company to focus on growth in emerging markets with a local focus. Guilherme Cesari has been named vice president of development for Brazil, reporting to Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer for Marriott in the Caribbean & Latin America region. Most recently, Mr. Cesari served as partner at HVS; the world’s largest consulting firm specializing in hotel investments, based in their Sao Paulo office.
